I think i asked this ages ago and focal were mentioned as a good choice but i just wanna make sure there the ones to go for coz im now at the stage im going to buy them next week.I don't and won't have a sub and its just the standard headunit so whats the best ones to go for.I would rather stay away from the Type S and R range

These are the focal ones

Focal are quality mate, you won't be dissappointed with them. Have you seen these...

At 120w RMS they are a lot more powerful, a little more expensive, but a mate just bought some and he went into their shop and got them for £100 ;)

I dunno if it matters on what sorta music i listen to to what ones would be better suited but its mainly just the usual pop stuff and rock

I can't get anyone to answer the phones at alpha car audio to ask about the price of the alphasonik so i'll leave them outta the choice because they are over £100

With both options above would i be able to use the exsisting wiring ?

Phoenix Gold in my opinion out of them too mate. Yeah you will be able to use existing wiring no probs, you will just have to cut and join the wires that go the the plug on the tweeter thats in there already, so then you will have direct wires from your headunit that you can hook into your crossover :)

Is there any known problems with 17cm speakers being too deep and hitting the window or are all of them the same size ? I have only heard about the type Rs causing problems that way.
Don't wanna go n buy them n they are to deep :)

Cheers for your help Shinobi,n chubbles for pointing those ones out on ebay :)

I just recieved a email off the ebay seller for those components and he says i will need extra cables as the cable on the tweeters is very short and won't reach the crossovers,Does that not sound a bit dodgy ?

Alpne Type S Comps are good, or if you can stretch the Type R's

The tweeter cable is usually about 10 cms long (approx) so you will need more to wire it to crossover box.

why are they so short ?

Will i be able to use the exsisting cable from the old tweeter and just join it with tape ?

Are they new comps or used? He may have cut the excess wire as he didnt need it or something?

I put some JBL 17cm's in mine, cost £55, 80w rms I think, just need the adapters and they sit nicely behind the cards. Might be worth getting some sound insulation for just behind the speakers tho.
Infinity are prolly slightly better, but they are made by JBL as their premium line.
