does the front cover on the standard cd players come off? i.e. for sprayin silver???

nope - just take it out and mask it off carefully. a useful tip i found it to paint copy-dex onto parts you want masking off. then when you've sprayed, you can peel it off and get a perfect edge.

Yes it just clips off the unit with a little help from a small screwdriver
