headunit question

Im thinking about buying a new headunit to replace the standard one i have now but was wondering what will happen to the display screen (the screen above the vents) will it still function, displaying time and outside temp or willl it simply stop working all together. (don't really want a duff bit of equipment in the car lol:? )

just puts the date and time up with the temp ,mate
