Ive asked at 2 garages now, one I just went to said dont do it as you will not believe the reduction in speed! They also said with 17's the arches will have to be lifted due to scrubbing.
I have a 1L Corsa and was just wondering what your thoughts are on getting 17's. Maybe it's better getting some SRi 16's? These places are putting me off, and my old man reckons they will scrub, slow car down and is really putting a downer on it :(
The ones im interested in are et42 and are 17"
same size and offset as mine no scrubbing at all.yes it will slow the car down a bit but nothing major

I Used To Have A 1L On 17's An I Din Notice Any Difference In The Speed, An They Never Scrubbed.
Don't believe them!People talk out of the asses!Look how many people on here have 17's and not many people have problems with them! And with speed its prob gna take what......like a second of the 0-60 time. Thats nothin!
Don't worry about it, just go ahead and get them!

SHinobi the peeps u hve been talking to do not really know what they're on about, I had a 1.0l silver C with 17's et45, they never scrubbed at all even down 30mm. U will not notice a huge difference in speed, trust me.
Like everyone else before me has said they cant know what they are talking about.
As im running 17's and havent even got a good offset as mine are ET37 and im also lowered 30mm but has dropped around 35mm and no rubbing :)
As for the speed drop there was a site somewhere which worked out the speed loss by the size of the tyres you use to have on compaired to what you will be putting on and it worked out at about 2-3mph's slowers at reaching 70mph's which is nothing really

Ive never had any problems with mine
I know mine are only 16's, but again, I feel no difference with the power/speed of the car, just handles better cos of the lower profile tyres (and eibachs of course)
