Problem is new alloys touching calipers when fitted (read the thread below)

http://corsa-c.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?p=349336#post349336

I've just tried 3mm spacers and they didn't give me enough room and i don't want to use 5mm spacers coz i would then effectively be running on ET35 with 17's on 30mm eibachs, so......

Has anyone ever taken their alloys some where and had a few mm grinded or lathed out? like shown on the pic below.
It would litterally only need to be 2mm off all the way round and then i would'nt need spacers at all.

What do u reckon?? and what sort of place would be able to do this, bodyshop, alloy refurb place???..........

no can do i'm afraid, bought them privately off ebay and then had tyres fitted to them afterwards, with the spacers on it did make a difference and there was a gap of about 1mm but it was still catchin a tiny bit, reckon i might give them a bit of a filing and sanding and see if i can manufacture enough room to stop them catchin.

What size gap should there be? ideally? and whats the minimum?

theres about 5mm gap with mine (thats on et45 but all down to the style of the wheel) - u could always sell them?
i wouldn't wanna sand/grind that part out incase i take the strength out of the rim at all? :dontknow:

yep i had thought of that like, this is so frustrating coz its like a matter of milimeters. probably wouldn't be able to make me money back on the wheels and i'd want to keep the tyres for another set which would mean payin to have em taken off again. AHHH!! :banghead: (I am actually doing this right now!!!)

looked thru google and most sellers say these are oxi 2's

they look similar but have the rivets all the way round the rim not jus on the spokes.

Et is 40, think they are copies of Oxi 2's, so i'd say they are Oxi 2 style!

tried spacers mate but it lowers the offset and i can't go lower than a 40 coz i'm down 30mm on eibachs. doesn't matter now coz i've got a set of Dare X1's fitted and they're spot on. Cheers for the replies everyone:thumbs:
