Quote:

Shaun Boswell, who has always been an outsider. A loner at school, his only connection to the indifferent world around him is through illegal street racing -- which has made him particularly unpopular with the local authorities. To avoid jail time, Shaun is sent out of the country to live with his uncle in the military, in a cramped apartment in a low-rent section of Tokyo. In the land that gave birth to the majority of modified racers on the road, the simple street race has been replaced by the ultimate pedal-to-the-metal, gravity-defying automotive challenge ... drift racing, a deadly combination of brutal speed on heart stopping courses of hairpin turns and switchbacks. For his first unsuccessful foray in drift racing, Shaun unknowingly takes on D.K., the "Drift King," with ties to the Yakuza, the Japanese crime machine. The only way he can pay off the debt of his loss is to venture into the deadly realm of the Tokyo underworld, where the stakes are life and death.

Well luckily the story isn't very far-fetched (except for the yakuza part), i know a bit about japan's racing culture and for a fact it is true that there are loads of different drift clubs all with their own name and logo, who ride the touge's or industrial complexes going sideways from start to finish when racing another team or all at once but then they form a snake of cars when only out for a spin with their own team. These japansese youngsters are really no joke, they can drift like hell and drive cars with serious amounts of bhp all on rear or 4 wheel drive cars completey sideways going from corner to corner. all hoping to become a pro one day off course so they can enter the legal form of the sport's championchip which is called D1.

PS: Touge's are long parts of road with a lot of bends in them, hence the word touge. They prefer them in mountanous/hillside areas with also ups and dowsn in it.

I actually do have some footage of this on my pc, both the legal and the illegal part. Off course in this footage you can only see such a small bit of what the scene is really like.

Could make a new thread about this as i'm now mentioning another film, but if you haven't seen it have a try at watching Initial-D, it's a pretty fun movie if you like drifting, humor and fast cars. (I don't mean the animine series but the real film based on it).
