View Full Version : Standard Cd Player
Hi, I know there has been other threads, where people have said they can't remove there standard cd players. I have tried everything that has been suggested in other threads plus takin it to various vauxhall garages, but still no luck. So any other suggestions??
Thanx
I have just done this twice and you are correct - its very difficult. Best way is to remove the air vents and the housing they sit in from above the H/U, with this done you can see the top edge of the H/U and it gives u something to grip and pull. If u don't have stereo release keys then use 4 small screwdrivers like shown in the pick below

Once these are in place its just a case of pulling on the H/U, it might not come out straight away and u may have to wiggle the screwdrivers abit to fully release all the clips. If this doesn't work then try stereo release keys, if they don't work then try a sledge hammer!!
How do i go about removing the air vents etc. Then once they are removed is it just a case of pulling at the CD player to remove it.

once u have removed the 2 air vents as shown there are 2 screws at either side as shown in the pic, once these are removed you can just pull the whole panel out (it will still be connected by a wire to the hazzard switch. You then have to remove the grub screws from the H/U and insert the screwdrivers or something similar. You can then grip the top of the H/U and pull it towards u, a word of warning here - pull too hard and the front of the H/U might come off, so be careful and don't use too much force!!
This may sound stupid, but how u get the air vents off.

Right, u need a small flat headed screwdriver, Imagine that the vent is there (as it isn't in the pic) insert the screwdriver where the large arrow is on the pic (down the side of the vent) the red line represents the screwdriver. now gently move the screwdriver in the direction of the smaller arrow so that is in the position of the yellow line. the vent should just pop off. Really easy mate!!
