Anyone upgraded to black diamond brakes?

Hi,

As title says, has anyone upgraded to black diamond brakes?
i have a 1.0 with no ABS. The disks are regulary glowing when i am driving through wales to uni.

Has anyone gone from standard 1.0 brakes to BD and was it worth the money? Also how hard would it be get bigger brakes? Would i be best spending the money on BD stuff or a 1.8 upgrade?

I did it, and it was a great improvement. In fact, nearly caused an accident to two cos of them. PM 2modified on here for your BD Products mate. Much cheaper than the 1.8 route, and you only have a 1.0, trust me, these are enough.

The discs aren't black, they're silver like all others. THey're just called Black Diamond, as in a name.

its a Black Protection Coating that comes off when the pad touches!!

They are good discs, pleny of people have been happy with them on here!!

How would i go about getting like a 1.2 vented set up on my car? What bits would i need to get from a scrap yard for it to work? Is it possible?

Also, if i stayed with the 1.0 set up what about insurance on them? would i have to declare them? they are still the same size

All the same size. Just bette quality, not really what I would call a performance upgrade. To change to the 1.2, you need the bigger caliper bracket, iirc the calipers are the same size.
