Basically i have had my current audio setup for almost 9 months.

All of i sudden i have this awfull interference where when the engine is on there is a loud buzing noise, and becomes loader as i acceletrate.

I have tried my head unit in my friends car and it exists there too. And i i have also tried his in mine and though there is a slight noise it is something i can live with.

Problem is the headunit which cost me £360 or so is a month out of warranty, and halfords wont touch it.

What could be the problem? I have tried a suggested ground loop for the phonos but although the interferences is barely as bad as before the audio messes up.

You need to find the source of your problem, it may not be the headunit.

are you getting the noise when you just use the cd player? or is it when u use an aux in source?

I had alternator whine on mine when i used my aux in running my pc sound, this was solved with a ground loop isolator.

If its doing the same in ur mates car, it sounds more like a faulty HU...u dnt have to use halfords, you should be able to send the stereo to a manufacturers service centre.
