I removed my spare wheel when i put my install in...not that it would be any use with my 17's but still, yeah just remove it and buy some tyre gel from halfords, when you get a flat fill it back up with this gas canister of gel and you can run it for so many miles til you find garage

I kept my spare wheel in there and made the install removable if I had a flat. Kept a can of tyre weld in the car just incase I wasn't in a position to remove the install (raining etc).
New install will have either gas struts holding the install up to access the spare, or linear actuators motorizing it.
Remember the spare wheel is also designed as part of the safety of the car in responding to rear-end collisions.
