View Full Version : /2 or /4 ???
Going to get my new amp ordered soon for my focal k2 comps. But which is best to go for???
Was thinking the JL Audio 300/2 to just run these comps, but thinking now do I get the 300/4 amp??
Comps need min of 80w each side and can take the full 150w. So 300/2 split two ways 150w each that'll be alright won't it??? Or do I get the 300/4 incase need to run more speakers off it in the future?? Any ice peoples opinions welcomed..
:)
300/2
If you need to run more speakers in the future then buy another amp
^^^ Yeah if you have the space and aren't bothered about losing the boot to an install in future go with dedicateed amps.
I got the 4+1 cos I want to keep some spaces but really should put 3 amps im to do the job properly.
Thanks :) Probs get the /2 then for comps.

You can get the 300/4 and bridge it until you require the extra channels.
It will still give you 150wx2 bridged.
Not only is there the added expense of an extra amp but also the hassle of putting it somewhere.

you may also run speakerswithout their crossover!each speaker will have his own channel using /4!!!think of that also...

Yes but depends if the crossover filters on the amp are capable and flexible enough to warrant the exercise.
You may also wish to add some in-line capacitors (not the 1farad ones but small ones that are actually in all passive networks) so you don't blow the speakers, perhaps ones that will take 100-120 watts.

Yes, but at what slope? I see 12 or 24db/octave, it only goes to 5khz. Guessing can't cross higher?
Cannot be bothered reading the manual haha.

Anyways it has a regulated output, which I like to steer well clear of.
