plz tell me exactly wat i need

hi guys, was looking to put a slimline ps2 in the car, i have a alpine ivx-m706 flip screen head unit which u can add cd/dvd changers , connect it to the brain etc,
i want to kno wat exactly do i need to power up and install a ps2? i have heard i can get a lead for 20 quid that runs through the cigarette lighter and powers it up? is that tru? is dat all i need? some reason i don't tink so

The PS2 to RCA lead should do you for connecion to your unit, but not 100% on this as I aint done it :|

you can buy em dead cheap all u need is a connector which you have prob seen that plugs into yur cigrette lighter and you can get em with a normal plug socket at the other end so you can plug in nearly anything i used ot have one in my old corsa.

yea get one of these cables, but you can probably cut the end off and wire it upto the back of the cig lighter so its out of the way and doesnt look messy.

as the slimline ps2 has got an extrnal power supply you can get a replacement one that rund direct off the cars 12V, you dont need an invertor to bump it up to 240 then have the ps2 bring it back down to 12 v.

ok so i just need one lead that will connect from the ps2 to the cigerette lighter ???? so how can i play it on my alpine screen? i am soooo confused , dnt know anything about this

Right, that lead I posted for power, and the standard RCA lead from the PS2 into your Screen inputs.

just ordered the lead , shud b with me by friday , so all that is left would be connecting the rca leads from the ps2 to my alpine unit? how much do those cost? lol

oh yeh 1 more question lol. the slimline will fit into the glovebox won't it? because the disc comes out from the top

as in will there be enuff space for the disc to come out?

it fits in but don't fix it down as you may need to slide it forwards to change disc.

This is one of the upsides to the old style big one. Alternativley you can make a sliding shelf with a pair of kitchen drawer runners that would be good. Velcro your ps2 to it and slide out to change/play and back for storage ;)
