Thought i'd do a thread about it!

My mate works at a local Garage Franchise here in MK.

He is a 'modder' ... this was his car (he sold it last week!) Esccot Cossie Lux. Now owns a Sierra Cossie and an Escort RS Turbo.

Basically he undertakes work 'out of hours' ie after 6pm when the workshop manager has left for the day.

He will do most 'minor' stuff on cars at mates rates.

MOT's are £30 and depending on any questionable MOT failure mods ie DeCats etc he is very understanding!

Services are normally £40 and all he asks is that you provide some parts such as oil filter, air filter, plugs etc. For replacing fluids he uses the garage stock. Oil used is Shell Optimax so it isn't cheapy stuff going into the cars. He will stamp your service books with the Garage Stamp therefore keeping your service history up to date.

For all other work, ie shocks, springs, brakes (for brakes he normally only charges £20 for fitting them) he asks that again you provide the parts. I can obtain the parts from Motorserv @ trade price but also JB Autoparts in New Bradwell, MK are very good price wise. (£20 for a set of front pads for a C).

Tyres are also cheaper than the norm.
Wheel balancing is £5 per wheel (minimum charge of £10 though) and he will 'plug' any punctured wheels for £10 each to save you having to have a replacement tyre.

I won't (and don't want anyone else) to mention the franchise he works for online.

Should anyone want anything doing, PM me with details and I will get a price (and also check whether he has time to do it!) and a rough date when he can do it.
