Been told that i need one of these to fix my car. Im not so sure i do as it could be a multitude of things. basically my car is running like a tank. Is there anyone in swansea who has a 1.2 sxi 2001 that could meet me to see if their working MAF will fix my problem - i dont fancy spending money on something that might not need replacing!

if it is the MAF, there must be some code for it.
if u do the pedal trick. should show P0100.

if not i wouldnt bother changing it.

or u could give ur MAF a good clean to start with.

Don't say ATS for info on the timing chain/MAF!?

If the timing chain is f*cked it will sound fine if not driven for a while, 3-5 miles it will start ticking like sh*t and sound like a diesel

if no codes then its usually a mechanical problem. check plugs, check fuel filter and fuel pressure etc
try and find someone who will lend you there maf

What garage in Gorse then?

I would lend you mine but mine is buggered, getting the fault code for it but cannot be bothered to get it done. Doesn't seem to be adding any noise or affect in performance

Runs like a 1.0!
Tap the accelerator in neutral and there is a delay and then it revs

Actually mine is doing that often. If you do find out please tell me what it is (yes i know mines a 1.0 but i've had it checked and been told it aint right, far worse that your usual 1.0 )

i dont know how to clean the maf tbh.
but sumone here must know.

i would say try the throttle body first, caz u can clean it with a bit of wd40, dont over spray it tho. then buff if with a cloth.

Just Incredible

No point cleaning the MAF as its not designed for that (silicon cleaners wont do the trick)

if its faulty, its faulty

most times it wont show up as a fault code

when mine went, I luckily had one spare so just swapped it over and my car ran sweet again
