lastnight on Match of the Day 2 they were talking about free kick routines from the Boro vs Spurs game, saying it would b prob easier for the goalkeeper if there wasn't any wall as it wouldn't block his vision, etc, etc.

that got me thinking ( i know :o ) :D

would u b allowed to put a 5,6,7 man wall actually on the goal line, then have the goalkeeper stood infront of the wall a couple of yards but still within the 6 yard box? :dontknow:

reckon this would work? (or b allowed) :?

nothing stopping u doing that i doubt, i've always wondered why walls are used as much coz anything over 20 yards out the keeper should really be savin if he's got a good view of it i.e. no wall,
however if u dont have a wall u invite the opposition to take a short free kick and run at the goal!!

so, i reckon that for freekicks close to the box a wall should be used and for ones further out just have 1 or 2 men there to stop the short ball and assume that ur keeper will save a shot from that distance..

no idea what can happen but the wall is blocking the freekick takers vision, its distracting and they have to get it inch perfect over the wall and onto goal... no wall there means they can hit it at any height, no worries they can see every part of the goal.

stand loads on the line and thats leaving 3 of your players vs 10 of there outfield players to basically shoot and shoot and shoot at goal, not everyone is 7ft tall and built like gazza so no it wouldnt keep everything out lol

Maybe they dont put all the players on the line becasue it just isnt good practise and against the ettiqute of the game. Like the way the ball is given back to the opposition if a player puts the ball out due to an injury, its just an agreedthing that happens / doesnt happen ?

u can do it, but all they wud do is play it short, wait for someone to break from the line, aim and if they're any good, hit the gap. a few players would break, if they didn't, u'd just be stood there for ages waiting lol. it wudn't work basically!!

if u sort ur wall proply, it'll cover 1/2 - 3/4 of the goal, and proply cover it. and u stand guarding the other half, make sure u can see the ball though obv. then if it goes in behind ur wall, either ur wall is**** or it was a hell of a strike, if it goes past u, either ur **** or its a hell of a strike.
