:banghead: having a little trouble with my stereo and i would like a bit of help.right the thing is there is lots of it and when i turn it up seems like the car is about to cut out.lights go really dim and the wipers start going slower.have to turn the heater of to save some power.what i was wondering am i able to get an uprated alternator or should i go for a diesel 1.plus what is the best kinda battery to get as i have a standard vauxhall 1 at the moment.i have 2 power caps but i just think there isnt enough there to keep them charged.any help would be greeeeeaaaaat :)

sounds like the battery maybe fault, get its checked at quick-fit (they offer a free service for this i think) u may have a dead cell (batteries in new vauxhalls only come with one year warrenty)
i've got a 55oh batt in mine now, its a 1.4 running two amps 2 subs and several speakers.
Try taking ur power caps out, they r just draining it quicker...

yeah power caps wont fix the dimming light problem if anything they will contibute to it.
i would get a bigger battery, or if you can afford it a second battery and a split charger system.

take the power caps out? thought they stored the power.what ohm is a standard battery.just to say my system is about 1500rms

any idea how much the split charger system is?
would a diesel alinator help someone said it to me once and i never found out if it would make any differents
They do store charge, but because of that they drain it all from the battery first! Complete waste of time, Disconnect em and see what happens!
Get another battary like deano did 2 power ur system

1500W RMS thats loads you would really struggle off the standard battery, i run about 1200 off a bigger battery and that struggles.

so u all think get bigger battery get rid of powre cap and dont bother with a new altinator.i will try the new battery first if that dont work,i will disconnect the power caps if that dont work i will try and find out how much it is for a second battery.cheers for the advice people:)

i had the same problem so now iv got a battery runnin each sub n amp
dont get any dimmin or anythin never botherd with power caps or touchin the alternator

so have u run a power line from your normal battery to the new battery then to the amp.twice or have u gone straight from the altinator :)
so i take it power caps are crap then and having 2 is worse in the end

it charges the batterys instead of the alternator have a look on caraudiodirect.com they sell batterys n stuff
havnt a clue on a price for it all coz i just got it all done at once

bigger altinator to increase the amount of power that is being charged.... thats what you need. also have you got powercaps??? might be worth comsidering, and a bigger battery too...

1. Uprate the alternator believe me it does make a difference
2. Remove the caps and bin them
3. Get a split charge system use a lesuire battery due to having a larger capacity
what music ya listen to? if it has jus got a slow b-line then ditch the caps, but if ya listening to anything with a v fast b-line like DnB ya should keep them so that the subs react a lot better.

If he upgrades to split charge then he will not need them

tbh mate i would keep them there. jus cos they have a helluva lot quicker discharge time than any battery ever will. just my opinion like coming from an electronics technician bg

then if your an electronics bg then surley you should relise that having a 110ah supply is better than having 2 1F caps. If caps are sooooooooo great then why do none of the DB Drag people use them

hello again just had a play today a went and got meself a bigger battery.the battery is the biggest 1 i can posibly fit in the car had to take most of it apart to get it in there.has made a massive difference already. gonna keep the caps for the mo but if it starts playing up agian i will get a bigger altinator.cheers for all the help people and i will keep it in mind for future reference :)

wats the deal wit u and ur caps and ur alternaters,lol, if ya got 2 batteries u wont need any caps at all,they will just drain more power, which u wont even need because of ur 2 batteries

have to do them in the morning cuz me camera is poo.but it was a hell of a squeeze at 1 point i thought it wasnt going in but brute force came through :)

2 do a 2 battery system would cost lots of money so i just wipped out the old 1 and replace with a bloody big new 1. have just been out and on full volume the sound is great and the light only dim a little.think i had a bad battery in the end,:)

i mean u got a new bat so jus take the power cap off and ur lights wont be dim and ur system will sound jus as gud

u sure.....always was told is good to have them cuz when the bass line drops it takes the power from the power cap and not the battery.so i thought having 2 would be better
