Just wondering as i want to eventually make some door pods, and get the best sound quality as i want to start going on cruises etc. I was thinking maybe 3 speakers per door? is that possible? If anyone has any pics of door pods with more than one speaker per door please post! I wont copy your ideas i just want insipration and reassurance that its possible to do.
Cheers guys,
John
Hmm, wud take a lot of custom work, also wud be a pain in the arse as there wud be no clearance for the window.
Isnt a decent pair of components enough anyway!

i have seen 2 sets of 6.5 inch mids in the doors but i am sure you could get in 3

just put 3 6x9s in each door 5 subs and 3 amps. who needs sound quality when you have volume ay!

lol!
id say you dont need to go over the top! a decent set of components will do you fine, but if you have to be awkward then how about a 3-way component set with kickbuilds to accomodate them!

here in greece we got a corsa c with 6 (six!!!) 10inch celestion midranges and 2 beyma horns at every front door....quite lousy!!!
what. is. the. point. its a fookin corsa for gods sake, not a humvee

i agree with you feederfan!the topic's question was about the number, and thats why i posted my previous post!!!i disagree with that, but "yes: 6 10inch midranges may fit in a corsa c door!!!!".
personally, i would prefer a door panel with 2 6,5in midbass, a 5in midrange and a tweeter!

absolutely fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Andy ur setup is the sh1t, and it looks awesome, but for most of us.. its overkill!
The airspace in a C is so small that u dont need more than 4 mid range speakers (as long as they are decent anyway!

4 midranges are ok if you want many dBs!!!if you want quality there are other things you must do!
You dont even need a sub for quality, a decent pair of components in the front and some matching coaxes on the shelf will kick out more than enuf bass!

feederfun i disagree. a sub, even a small one, is always good, just for absorbing the frequencies below, 150Hz that when a midbass tries to reproduce it doesnt sounds very well.
in addition, speakers at the back of the ear "ruin" the stereophonic image of the sound (and sound quality of coaxials is not very good!)
Ok, a sub is necessary if u demand complete frequency coverage but i completley disagree with coaxials being not very good.
The coaxials i have in the back of mine are absaloutly fantastic, it is extremley difficult to tell the difference between them and the components i have up front.
And as long as ur speakers are set up correctly, the stereophonic image wont be ruined at all. Decent head units have settings to compensate for time delay, etc.

plus on most headunits you can fade in the fronts more than the rear in any case
Yeah, exactly, but i prefer having an equal sound around me, sounds loads better than just fronts

well your are right, but allow me to disagree with coaxials. when a speaker has a midbass, a midrange and a tweeter and all these seperate speakers are playing in full range and are trying to reproduce frequencies from 200Hz (ok sub frequencies are not included in my example) to 5KHz, isnt this a probleme?
well a component has a woofer, and a tweeter... and a coax has a woofer and a tweeter... they are exactly the same, its just the components have a better crossover and normally, a better quality woofer, but u get what u pay for, and if u buy decent coaxials, u will get a good sound. I think you are confused between Coaxials and 6x9s. 6x9s normally have 3 speakers, as u sed, a midbass a midrange and a tweeter, however, a coaxial only has 2, a woofer and a tweeter... for example...

they are, hence the term pod

i dont see at the infinitys any crossover to make the frequency filtering. the only thing that coaxials have and is better than compos, is that speakers are near each other (as the word say in the same axis!), while compos never are!!!i believe when a speaker plays full range is not quite good...no matter if the speaker is coaxial, or component or 6x9, or if it is a 2way or 3way. i have heard 3way speaker component but without crossover and the sound was awfull...
The crossover on coaxials is built into the back of the speaker, admitidly it is not as good quality but it has a crossover and it does the job fine!

Yes, but just buy some 6" woofers and low pass them. Too easy.
andy dont u think 3 comps are a bit much for a door? how many ears do you have? how are they pooerd

exactly my point mate!! :D
this is why modified cars from other countries are better than UK, cos we seem to set imaginary limits on stuff!
