questions on amps

im about to buy a system, ive got my alpine head unit and now im buying 2x 12inch subs and 1 pair of midbass speakers with tweeters

i want quite alot of power so im going to buy 2 amps instead of a multi amp

but i dont know how many channels i need or wat amps i need

so was wondering wat amp will i need to run the 2 subs (peak3000w r.m.s1000watt)?

and wat amp will i need to power the 2 speakers and tweeters(200max watt 100r.m.s)?

well its hard to say not knowing the subs impedance but assuming that you have the ower numbers right then you need a amp that will give you 2000W RMS this on will

But check the subs impedances first for example they might be 4ohm dual voice coil??

i would also speak to a local ICE shop and see what they suggest before you go spending big money

these are the subs, so im not sure if i want to spend tht much on an amp if the subs themsleves only cost half tht

and i thought i needed a 2 channel amp in the subs because there was 2, is that wrong do i only need a mono amp?

a mono amp will drive them fine you will have to wire both subs in parallel onto the single channel you will need 1000W RMS into 2 ohms.

well mate for the 2 subs you would need an monoblock which may offer about 1000RMS @ 2Ohms!!!then you may run the subs with this amp, having not the gain full!for the midbasses and the tweeters you may ise a crossover kai buy a 2channel amplifier, or (much better) use 2 2channel amps or a 4channel and cross them actively!!!that means that the filtering of the frequencies will be made by the HPF/LPF of the amplifer!!!much better!
