View Full Version : wot to do with this
i just bought some infinity kappa 693.5i 6x9s and i just opened the box and found an in-line crossover. now as im not amping them, do i still use this? as im using the wiring from the rear speakers do i just solder the wires from the 'in' of the crossover to the wires of the rear speakers?
im a total novice at this and want to learn instead of paying for it to be done, so if you could help that would be great

iirc you still need the cross over due having to wire the mid and the tweeter up sepratley
ok one end of the crossover has the wires with the connectors that connect to the speakers, the other side of the crossover has 2 wires with the copper wire on the tips, do i solder these onto the cut rear speaker wires?

shouldnt have cross overs for 6x9's should you :|???
its labelled as an in-line crossover, and the instructions say 'do not omit the crossover - doing so will damage the speaker' but because im not amping it, i need to know if the wires on the other side (the one with the copper wire showing at the end) can be soldered on to the existing rear spkear wire as i have cut them as im not using the rear speakers anymore
U dont need to solder, just use terminal blocks, theyre removable then!
yeh ok il use terminal blocks but is what i said correct as in that wire coming out of the in-line crossover is what is needed to be connected to the rear speakers? sorry bout the questions just wana get it right so i can attempt it tommorow morning

a crossover is always welcomed!!!its seperates frequencies...midbass is not created to produce frequencies of 1KHz, and tweeter not for frequencies of 500Hz!!!
Agree with James
if the crossover is a single sealed componet then you have to wire it inline with the tweeter, its actaully a high pass filter, to stop bass frequencys getting to the tweets. Should be on the positive wire and the +ve terminal of it should go towards the amp and the ive terminal of it towards the +ve termincal of the speaker
