Can I ask this question to our Australian members. How come the Aussies call the English Poms when Poms means Prisoners of her Majesties Service, which I do believe would relate to the early Australian settlers being the old English Prisoners :P It's always had me wondering that question. So in reality the Australians would be Poms or descendants of in most cases.

As far as I understood due to the white settlers/prisoners going to Australia, the Aboriginals called any white settler a pom years back, so as far as I know when my cousins from Australia call me a pom they are infact one themselves, always makes me chuckle :)

Will be over that way in a few months, off to see the relatives in the Winter to get some of your summer :)
