View Full Version : 2x amps from 1 power feed?
Can I do this?
I already have an amp running mu subs but i want to re do my install in the summer and was thinking of getting another amp so that theres one for each sub or one for the comps one for the subs.
ANYHOOO (got slightly sidetracked there!)
I have a 4 Gauge wiring kit into the boot at the mo.
Can I run both amps fron the 1 power lead or will i need to run another thru?

no you can run both amps from one power feed you will need a distribution block.
4awg is pretty think as well so should be able to handle the power
i would not run two subs off two amps you might get some funny effects there. I would run the subs off one and the front components off the other.
I'll probs buy a big block amp to power my subs then as at the mo they are running bridged from the Monoblock 800w amp and the subs are 800w each!

i wouldnt run two subs off of the 4awg if the total amp value being drawn through the wire exceeds 1000...
You would only get "funny effects" if the two subs had different amplifiers, they were different sizes, and the box's they were in had differrent volumes
I'b keep sub set up, run comps from from the second amp, and put these in some fibre glass door builds ;) :P
