How do you get the gear knob off

wanna put a new gaitor on but to get the old one off i need to get off the gear knob, how??

I tried pulling and twisting mine for hours and it didn't budge.

So I got a stanley knife, cut along 2 of the 4 lined indents and it came off much easier.

I think it will be very difficult to get the knob off without destroying it.

It doesn't come off top ways. You will need to lift out the gaitor, unclip the white holder a the base of the shaft, once out of the hole, pop off the white clip and lift out the stick. cut the small cable tie and take the Gaitor off the bottom avoiding the grease as best as possible. Fitting is the reverse of removal.

no you dont you just keep twisting it them pull it thats how i did mine.

Heat it for like 10 mins with a hairdryer to melt the glue, and twist and pull very hard! But carfull cause it does get hot.:!:

LOL! jesus christ talk about back the dead, this thread is nearly 2yrs old i dont even care how to get my gear knob off anymore, i bought a proper fitting gaitor from vxl aaages ago,
