View Full Version : Help with standard headunit.
Hi just wondering if anyone can help me with a problem i'm having! I sold my standard cd30 headunit out of my 05 sxi lastnight on ebay, but when i come to getting the code today there was'nt one on my car pass card. I've been into vauxhall and apparently the new corsa stereos are made so that they can't operate in any other corsa than the one they came out of. Has anyone heard about this as i have a buyer and i don't really want to mess him about.
thats a new one on me... they could be right, cause if i worked there and i had a code, i'd charge ya £20 for it..
i dont have on 05, so i have no idea...
Like you say i doubt the guy is going to be wrong, but it just seems a bit weird as you always see these stereos for sale on the bay.
i've never seen one from an 05> though... maybe this is why? although i searched and couldnt see anythin about it before :\
can be recoded for £25 so no problem not urs anyway

yea they have been changed, the wiring on all new vxs have changed to canbus. Different type of wiring which means that instead of having ****loads of cables to each part for diagnostics theres one twisted pair cable which carries a code and each part has a identify, so basically the radio is registered to a certain ecu, which gives out a certain id code. Therefore in the right car you dont need a code but might need to connect upto a diagnostics machine to sort either the ecu or radio out.
Well thats how i think it works

Yeh thats pretty much so, the radio codes are not flashed into the headunit (as they were before) and flashed onto the ECU aswell, one of them will need re-programming but I dont think that would be cheap, iv got mine aswell.

is alot easier if you disconnect the battery or change the headunit then change it back no hassle.
Thanks for all the replys much appreciated!
