what does RMS mean? and what would be loud e.g. 300RMS??
ive searched but nothing came up
its the power of the speakers/amps a normal corsa stereo I believe is approx 20RMS and 40 peak? After market speakers vary, usually from 50RMS to 150RMS (high end speakers) and 90Peak to 250+ Peak??
Dont quote me on this but its normal.
My little vibe sub & amp was £150 and that is 400RMS? and 1000 PEAK?.
Hope this helps a little.
yeah. sort of.
RMS is the figure you interested in. you match the sub or comp RMS to the amps rms...
basically, its the AVERAGE level... this is whats important in the world of ICE...
but when you get to higher end gear, RE etc etc, WRMS doesnt have to be matched exactly... but i'll talk about that if you ever want RE subs :P

well the way i understood it was
say a sub says 1000w on it, htis is its peak, eg it has been turned up at that setting once just to prove it can, although it will not kick out 1000w daily.
Its daily rating would be its rms so 250wrms is basically saying it will be kicking out 250 watts on a normal level.
but dont quote me on it.

also rms is usually no greater than half the peak. Peak is the most amount a speaker can take in under a second or something ridiculously small and wont blow. Also amplifiers lie about wattage aswell!!!

RMS stands for ROOT MEAN SQUARE which in simple terms in the case means the average performance of ie. Sub wattage.
