View Full Version : Braodband Max Help
I did a check to see if I can get it using the Pipex checker and it said not available yet... however I thought I would check on ADSLGUIDE and found the following:
Driffield: http://www.adslguide.org.uk/availability/btprereg_history.asp?code=MYDFF
So from looking at that I would asume its available is it not??
ALSO who offers the best "Max" broadband at the moment thats available where I live??
Thanks

I would speak to your provider, get a regrade, make sure you work at 8meg then move isp.
Plusnet have apparently regraded my account but im still runing at 2mb :|
Tis a hard one plus with your previous explanation of distance from exchange I doubt you will be able to get best use from 8 meg :(
So ring Pipex or just just change my account online to the 8mb one which is the same price (i think) as what I am paying for 2mb is it not??
Wouldnt touch plusnet - **** these days!!
Exchange is at the end of the road mate... it wasnt a distance thing... we believed Pipex were just limiting newsgroups etc.. and then also limiting connections if you went above the fair usage = who knows. BUT mayas well change to the 8mb as you said and see if it does go faster or not.... as same price (i think).
Any more help or info from you or anyone else?

aye sam knows says mine has been done too, I will open a ticket with plusnet see what they have to say
Pipex check that I just did stated this
Fantastic news - it is estimated you can get up to 3.5Mb PIPEX broadband!
Our database check has shown your line will achieve up to 3.5Mb broadband download speeds. A further test will be performed once your order has been placed. To order, please continue the broadband ordering process and choose PIPEX Max below.
To take advantage of this faster broadband you will need to order PIPEX Max.
If you would prefer to order an upto 2Mb broadband service from our current range, please continue the broadband ordering process below and choose from two of our great 2Mb products PIPEX Start and PIPEX Go.
Hmmm so I can get faster than 2mb (aparently) so guess its worth moving to Max as its another 1.5mb more than I get now... and its the same price as what I am on with them at the mo I think.
Couple of questions
- Will I need to sign a new contract (ie 12 months) or can I just ammend my current account and continue to use it?
- Will it always be 3.5mb or will it get faster over time?
Thanks
Darren
Great news (not) :(
Tried to change online to the Max one and you cant do that yet aparently!!
PIPEX is currently preparing its product offerings for existing customers who wish to change their service to PIPEX Max*, therefore at this time it is not possible for existing customers to change to this service.
If you are interested in PIPEX Max please check back regularly for updates as more information will be available very soon.
*PIPEX Max is a new offering which allows for download speeds of UP To 8Mb dependant on the quality of your line and the distance to your local exchange.
HOWEVER I am guess I could give them 30 days notice and move to someone else who offers MAX at probably a cheaper rate.. as its active etc.. and Pipex are offering it to new customers just not current customers.

^^ Just found that... madasafish do the upto 8mb service for £19.99 a month for the first 6 months then £25.99 for the remaining 6 months. They cap you at 20gb a month just I am thinking that will be more than enough as thats roughly 650mb a day isnt it??
Theres noway I use more than that a day!! (I dont think :| )
Thoughts/Opinions - I am sure that company has been around before though and then disapeared but cant remember??

You no longer hammer newsgroups?
I have this same problem noony, the best i can get where i am is 5meg. But check this isp out, they seemed pretty good to me :D plus when you join them on 2 meg they upgrade you for nowt.
Clicky (http://www.seriouslyinternet.com)
Fisha - will have a look
Andy - Not like I used to mate.... couple of hundred MB a night - 500mb MAX which is like 15gb a month meaning 20bg will be more than enough!!
Martin - Will have a look into them mate... been looking at that madasafish one - reading comments on other forums and seems maybe a bit hit and miss - HMMM let me know how youu get on too ;)
Martin the do look good...
- I checked the migrate thing and it said
"You already have ADSL on your line, Migrate to us now for free to get 3.5 Mbps ADSL"
Sooo everyone is saying the same that I can get 3.5 which is good - and also liking the idea that your bill will vary depending on your use meaning it could be as low as £14.99 a month, which is handy specially if you go away for a couple of weeks or just have a month where your not too interested and can be a maximum of £27.99 a month which is unlimited usage.
Will look into it more when I get home... but this PAYG broadband from them does look quite good! ;)
^^ Anyone...
Also what about Bulldog Broadband (http://www.bulldogbroadband.com/index3.asp) ??
They can currently only offer upto 2mb as opposed to 3.5 above BUT aparently they have good service and it really is unlimited with no fair usage policies etc.. etc... ??
