hi,

i got this second hand amp off e-bay and the guy promised to help with the wiring but bailed out on me last minute!such a to**er! lol

anyway here is what i got with the amp.

1. reg wiring cable, which i wont have problems with connecting
2. thin kinda greenish cable which is connected to the RMT (shwon in the pic below)
3. groung cable. wont have any probs with this
4. and a few other cables connected the the speaker thing next to the power, RMT and GRD cables.

now, i thought that u connect the speakers to the amp using the RCA cables. in other words u connect the RCA cables from the amp to the back of the headunit and, thus connecting the speakers, but seeing these cables made me doubt and im strating to think that this is a pain in the arse job:\

anyway have a look at the pics. i have annotated them as much as i could to make the job simpler!

i besiacally wanna connect my 4 speakers, 2 front (17cm 200watts alpine) and 2rear (13cm 75watts kenwood).

http://www.badongo.net/pic/148615 (http://www.badongo.net/pic/148615)- the pic with power cable, groundcable, etc

http://www.badongo.net/pic/148626 (http://www.badongo.net/pic/148626)- the one with RCA outputs or inuuts

http://www.badongo.net/pic/148627 - i dont really know what is this called!

SORRY AGAIN FOR BRINGIN THIS UP, IM PRETTY SURE THIS IS A DUMB PROBLEM BUT WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP!

i'll get some pics taken while im installing the amp so there wont be any other newbbies asking u guys for help!

cheers

Ok for a start that red wire is fraid so u can see the actual cooper wire thatll start a fire if u put it in ur car if ur powering 4 speakers u need two more wires on the right. I think u will need to buy a new wiring kit.

Did u put the tape on the wires :?

The rca cables go from your amp to your headunit

okay dokey

buying a new wiring kit wont be a problem!!!! ill get that first thing when the car comes back from the bodyshop, wihch shuld be thursday! (a little advice: never leave the keys inside the car with ur brother who doesnt know how to drive) :banghead:

the tapes where on the wires when i got them!!!!

so what do RCA cables excatly do then??? :?

how hard is it to wire the speakers on the scale of 1 to 10??any holes need to be drilled?

thanks

RCAs give the amp the signal. THe amp then powers the signal and send it to the speakers.
Wiring speakers can be done in numerous ways, the back are easy, the front will be a little harder as you have to get the wire into the door unless you use the existing.

Right, quick explanation. you want to use the low inputs on the amp. NOT the pass (pass throughs). The passthroughs are so that the RCAS can be daisy chained for other amps. Not recommended. Just dont use em (you get horrible noise). Plug your RCAS, which come from your head unit (the red and white leads). Into 2 of the four channels e.g A and B. or C and D. then on the other side of your amp you should have a set of gold connectors. On this side you use channel A+B or C + D. If you used A+B on the other side, use A+B on this side. These connect to your speakers. 'A' for one speaker 'B' for another. The C+D if plugged in the other side by the RCAs from the head unit. Can run another 2 speakers or from the diagram you've bridged them. Bridging the two by connecting the + of both C and D (in the case of ur amp) allows the two channels to be used as one, which makes it doubly loud. Usually for a sub. These two wires connect to the sub. The twiddly dials on the last picture are the frequency cutoffs. Basically channel A+B you are using for your speakers. And C+D for you sub. Your a+b channels dont need 'Bass boost' turn that to Off. The Xover should be full or HPF. HPF means high pass filter. For trebly speakers. Mode should be 3 channel. NOT four as it is in the pic. The next Xover should be LPF low pass filter. Which means sub frequencies. so switch that to LPF. AND BASS BOOST OFF. the middle turny thing (left hand side) thats got LPF above adjust that for the sub. U'll hear the difference, turn the level to about half way. above that, the same for the right hand one. Have a fiddle. But just take a minute to check where u have the switches!!!! PM me what your trying to setup and i will explain better.
