View Full Version : Amp Wiring Kits
Hi need some advice on which wiring kits to buy,
I already have
1 x 4awg power cable (+ & earth)
1 x RCA Cable (currently plugged into the sub output on the headunit)
1 x remote cable (inline with the remote cable on the headunit.
Couple of questions
I need to power a hifonics brutus 1500dx which requires 4awg cable and I want to power a 3-400 watt amp for the comps, will I need more power cable?
Am I best to use a 0awg cable and ditch the 4awg and then split it in the boot, or just put another 4awg in and split just the 1 of them??
Can I use a terminal block or something for the remote so I only need 1 remote cable in the boot to power up all of the amps?
I need 2 more RCA cables for the comps (front and rear) I will only be amping the front comps at the moment but to save effin about in the future im gonna install the rear ones now which are the best quality to get or does it not really matter.
Thanks
James
Oh and this is the wiring kit I have at the moment

clarify this please:
you have to amps.
-one requires 4awg power
-one requires 8awg power
one amp powers sub amp
one amp powers comp amp
assuming all that, then:
you will need 2 RCAs.
-either 2 x 5m or
-1x5m and 1x1m, if your amp has a signal out put you can "dasiy chain them together"
you should distribute the remote cable so the one cable spilts into 2 and does both amps.
you should run thicker than 4awg to your boot, buy a distribution block - split this into 1x4awg and 1x8awg.
and your last question i dont understand... whats the best quality what? wires, cables, comps, coaxils, 6x9s, subs, mono/2/4 channel amps?

Yes I have 2 amps, 1 for the subs and 1 for the comps.

your amps will probably have a signal input and out put. so you send the signal from the HU along the RCA to the input of the amplifier. you can then hook another RCA up to the output of this amplifier and run it into the input of another amp.
this does the same thing as running 2 RCA cables down the side of your car. and shorter cabels are cheaper... this is what is meant by Daisy Chainning. as you could run many amps from one RCA lead going to your boot :)
however, if your HU has front and rear outputs- you could run each amp off of these. as it would make it easier to change FADER levels dring along :)

My H/U has 3 RCA Outputs, 1 (SW) (FRONT) (REAR)
So would I be best of using them all?

erm. Yes.
like i say, just so its easier to change as your drving around

like i say, just so its easier to change as your drving around1 more question then, im gonna go buy some more RCA Cables but I want to know what power cable to get next, as I said I got the 4awg going down already, shall I just get some more 4awg put that down to future proof it a little bit or just put some 8awg down for the comp amp/s???
I gotta put a remote bass controller cable down aswell for the amp
ermmm.. as you already have the 4awg laid down... then i would say run 8awg down with it aswel.
i wouldnt normally recomend doing this - but you may aswell do it now. however, i would get 0awg anyway to upgrade the BIG3.
so run the RCA's and bass level controller down one side, and your TWO power cables down the other.
im sure you can get a good battery terminal to support that set up.

upgrade the big 3 under the hood to zero gauge
run more RCAs from hu to boot
run 8awg down the 4awg power side
run the bass level cnotroller down the other side
this will be "perfect"
dont forget fuses, and dont forget to use the bass controller wisely. if you dont give it respect, you amplifier will send signals to your sub casuing it to clip, and then melt and die.

:thumbs:What do you mean wisely, be careful not to put the "remote gain" up too much?

thats exactly what i mean. They are deadly... great fun at low volumes.
ie- when stereo is on low volume, turn it up to amaze people with loud clear bass.
dont get carried away by turning your hu up full, and THEN reaching for the gain adjustor... you'll start clipping... this means DEATH in the world of ICE
