you can do... however with components comes a cross over. this send the correct frequencies to the correct speaker - meaning a much improved sound :)

you can also fiddle this in some of the better headunits if you dont wish to have an external cross over.

components are only about 20 quid more than ther coaxil counterpart and they give a much more balanced sound. only a bit more effort to install

would amping the speakerson thier own,as opposed to components, make much of a difference to sound quality or just make them louder

it will do both. an amplifier amplifies the signal... the degree of how much the "volume" or quality (SQ) of the music will depend on the quality of the amp - and what it says it will do etc :)
