I'm looking for advice and tips on changing the rear speakers. I've looked in the haynes manual and it said about taking the panels off. Easier said than done! I can't get to half the screws!! Was thinking about sawing the bottom parts off, would that work?

don't bother with them, there to hard to get into just take the wires from them and wire up some 6x9's on the parcel shelf.
Dont do that if your going to get 6x9s put them though a amp sounds much better! It does make a differents just replacing the standard speakers it is a bit fiddley but it can be done.If you are careful you can take the bottom screws out and carefully pull the bottom out and put something there to stop it going back and get to them that way.

If you want better quality speakers than the current rear ones but want an easy install you can just whack them in the parcel shelf as SilverSRI said.
I managed to cut the wires to the standard speakers and wire up me new speakers without touching a single screw.
However, if you want proper quality sound ditch the rear speaker ideas, get some comps in front and a sweet bass in boot
