this is my routine!

Take car to jet wash, start by spraying tyre foam and wheel cleaner, work into tyres and wheels with a brush. leave for a few minutes and start jet wash with power shampoo.

When the money runs out, put in another pound and select high foam brush adn scrub the whole car untill the cash runs out, another pound and select high pressure rinse, make sure you wash all of the soap away, when this is complete, I dry the car with a shamois leather, the minimises water marks so you dont have to work so hard when polishing.

take car home and polish with Autoglym super resin, treat plastics with Simoniz back to black gel (tahts what Im using atthe moment) Polich windows with autoglym window polish!

Thats it!

cheers chuckla :D

think i'll stick to the sponge/shamppo rather than spend £3/£4 every time i wash it tho :)

i use auto glym for everything, expensive stuff but does a good job and lasts for ages. bought a valeting kit thing from halfords in their last sale! usually they are 40 squids got mine for 30 i think. has everying in it.

for my wheels i use wonder wheel stuff! well cool stuff brings alloys back to new!

cheers for that

i think i might have a look in halfords aswell as browse the netm just hoping to pick up hints and recommendations off ppl

plus i've never used wax/polish so wondering the best way to use it, i take it the cars got to be completely dry 1st

and do u use both together or 1 or the other? which is best?

cheers

My routine goes:

Hoover interior and wipe all surafces with auto glym plastic cleaner.

Wipe interior glass with auto glym window polish.

Jet wash all exterior inc wheels, then clean wheels with wonder wheels wheel cleaner.

Shampoo all the car, then leather it dry. After this I clean the outside of the windows.

I then polish using super resin polish, clean wheels once more, dry them and apply tyre gel.If I can be bothered il giveit a wax too.

As a finishing touch I use auto glymmetal cleaner for the zorst!!

Takes ages though, usually do this every two weeks!!

Quick tip, kinda common sense but always wash the car from top to bottem. Dry ASAP with chamois

Which brands?
At the end of the day, most products do what they are suppose to do, it all depends on how much effort u put in yourself.
Most products come in gel or spray form, personally i'd choose gel, simply because its easier to use and control.
Brands i go for:
Simonez
Meguires
Auto Glym
Turtle Wax
Car Plan
etc

Leather Chamois- Dry (your car must be immaculate before u use this, otherwise you'll end up with black marks on the leather)
2xSponge- Body Work, Wheels
4xCloth-Windows, Interior Cabin, Body Polish, Bumper Polish
Brush-Wheels

Wax and polish comes after the car is left to dry. Wax only on painted bodywork- if possible avoiding waxing in direct sunlight, otherwise it just dries and becomes a white dust on your car. Wax on Wax off style like My Miyogi (Karate Kid Style)

I would recomend Halfords wash/wax car shampoo, it does a nice job between polishes.
For polish I start with a coat of Autoglym Super Resisn Polish.
After that comes the Mequiars NXT generation wax/polish- it's pricey at £14.99 a bottle but does give a fantastic shine, and comes off really easy. Mequiars applys very thinly so i found it better to have a decent coat of polish underneath it, I found this out when I began polishing my dads motor with NXT generation and it wasn't great, but after a Super Resin coat + NXT Generation she was gleaming! really gleaming, really really gleaming...
For wheels use wonder wheels, it does a mean job although you dont need to use it every time unless your not cleaning your wheels for 800miles at a time!
Meguiars gel for the tyres(it smells ace, almost drinkable  ), Simonez for the bumpers, and carplan stuff on interior plastics, halfords upholstery cleaner is great if fabric is a bit mucky.

halfords big bottle about £6.99
super resin £7.99
NXT generation polish £14.99
Mequiars tyre gel £4.99
Wonderwheels was like £5 for a 2litre bottle at costco- amazing value!!
rest of it shouldnt be more than a couple of quid each. It's mounts up...

correction: the wonderwheels was £6.99 +vat but still dirt cheap. as for membership it does cost about £30 a year ka$h(my old man is a member), and is not worth if you're just gona buy the odd bottle of wonderwheels or other small items, but for example when he joined up they bought a tumble dryer for £60 less than comet so the membership paid off. and sicky u can get almost anything, tv's/drum/hifi/food/bikes/dvd etc jst about everything is supersize - american company you see
