ok i have searched for this but can not seem to find the answer that i am looking for.

ok...i conected my cd player up to the car, it was all well and good and working fine, then i put a PC9-106 wire in aswell so that i could use my steering wheel controls, but after i put this cable in the cd player started resetting itself all the time, and i couldn't seem to find out why as before it was fine, so i was fidling with the wires and ended up blowing the fuse in the engine bay fuse box, so off to get a new one of those today, any ideas what i can do to resolve this?

the cd player is a sony, and i like it cos it does everything i could posibly need!

check the merory wire if the head unit matches the memery of the car. this happened to me so i cut the ignition and the memeory and swap them over so the merory was with merory and ignition with ignition.

I had exact same problem, although i used the PC99-X06 and PC99-SON. Now it works, just tried it again. Maybe you need the xo6 i have a spare SON if u need it.

well the memory was workin fine, then i put the pc9-106 cable in and the steering wheel worked controls worked fine but the cd player kept resetting, so i was playing round with the different red and yellow wires as they are bullet conectors then the controls stopped working and so did the memory on the cd stoped working aswell, so then i kept messing and the fuse blew

ok, so i got a new fuse and the cd player is back working now thankgod, i thought i had killed it, when i put the pc9-106 wire in to make the steering wheel controls work it happens all over again, it resets every time and goes off with the ignition, so im guessing these wires need swaping but dont know which ones to swap.

keep the red on red and yellow to yellow on the steering wheel thing and up the power of ur fuse in the engine bay n ul b ok m8

smit
13-06-2006, 14:08
how come that will work, wat fuse should i put in, is it reseting because the box on the cable is drawing some of the power and therefore not enough is going to the headunit to keep the settings?

ur fuse is 5 amp at the moment isnt it upgrade it to a 10 amp and wat way r ur wires like yellow to red and vice versa

smit
13-06-2006, 14:13
at the moment...the fuse is the standard 20amp in the engine bay, the red and yellow wires are both conected to the yellow

BABY-T
13-06-2006, 14:14
on the stalk put the red in the red and the yellow in the yellow u dont need to swap them round cus the stalk does that for you

smit
13-06-2006, 14:20
ok ill do that, and wat size fuse do i need then?

BABY-T
13-06-2006, 14:23
if u already got a 20 tht shud b ok just do the wires n ul b ok

smit
13-06-2006, 14:38
ok just been to the car and tried it, if i conect red to red and yellow to yellow as u say then, the headunit doesn't turn on, but i am able to eject cd's and insert them, so im guessing from this that there is only enough power to work this function?

if i conect both to the yellow wire then everything works fine and the memory saves, but it doesnt go off with the ignition?

what i want is for it all to save but go off with the ignition lol?

this a sony headunit is it new cus id take tht back cus i got sony and that stalk thing n mines just red to red n yellow to yellow n all works

mb put red to yellow and yellow to red, you tried all other possibilities so may aswell give that a go

smit
13-06-2006, 23:31
yer iv tried all the posibilities i can think of, it all works fine now except i have to turn it off when i stop the car it doesnt go off with the ignition, the only thing i could think of to do this was like i said before when i put red to red and yellow to yellow i can eject a cd but not turn it on, so i rekon there is not enough power going to it, so i could possibly put a bigger fuse in to compensate this but i didnt want to risk it.

trixta

so how have u got them at the moment?

smit
14-06-2006, 12:22
at the moment both red and yellow wires are conected to the yellow wire, this keeps all the settings and can be used without the key in the ingition, but doesnt go off with the ignition.

ok. maybe on the headunit loom, because we had to swap it over in the first place maybe we have to swap them back? and leave teh remote loom as it is?

ive got the PC99 X06, together with the PC99 SON it is basically the same thing
what do each of the controls do for you?

smit
14-06-2006, 12:39
the buttons on the left hand side of the steering wheel change track and radio station and change between cd radio and auxilary, on the right hand side, they change the volume and the ATT i think this is turning the sub off or sumin cos it goes really quite when i press this

trixta
14-06-2006, 12:41
att is just a mute button turns all vloume down its if you wanna talk or pick up the fone etc.
Ye mine does all of that so i dont see the difference

smit
14-06-2006, 12:51

have you tried connecting the wires with out them both bein in the yellow one cus it allows 2 wires to connect to it really it should work wit red in red n yellow in yellow cus the stalk control switches them

BABY-T
14-06-2006, 15:32
also u know ur fuse in the engine bay what else does the fuse control cus on mine it was just the stereo and the electric windows because then upgrade fuse size

trixta
15-06-2006, 10:50
OK smit. I had a look and its al sorted on mine now. Put the two wires exactly how they were when you got them, and the first loom, the headunit loom, make the red go to red and yellow go to yellow. mine works perfectly like that now. :D:D

smit
15-06-2006, 11:28
the fuse on the head unit is 10amp and in the engine bay it is 20amp, when i connect red to red and yellow to yellow there doesnt seem to be enought power to turn the cd player on, only enough to eject a cd

trixta
15-06-2006, 11:33
