A few people have answered my questions about wiring my alpine 9812rb head unit up and i wanted to check that i am going to do it right, could you have a look at this and give it the ok.

I am going to run 4awg wire to the fuse distribution block then 8 awg to the head unit and amps, only going to install one amp to begin with, i've shown the third as a possible upgrade later on.

1) Is this wiring diagram correct?

2) The fuse already connected to the head units yellow power cable is 20amp, am i right in thinking that i need to fuse this at the battery as well using a 20amp fuse?

3) What size fuse do i need for a JBl GTO 6000 1100w amp?

Cheers for all the help guys, it all helps!

what amp rating do i need to put in the fuse distribution block for the head unit? should i put in a 20amp fuse as thats whats in the grey box on the yellow wire???

Also do i need the orange "Dimmer" wire coming from the alpine head unit?

orange dimmer wire isnt needed.

you're near enough there, but, a few alterations.

you should have the power coming off the battery, and straight into a fuse holder, like this

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/images/var/thumbs/category-291_tw140_th100.jpg

this is essential, as your fused distribution block ideally needs to be mounted inside the car, and the 4 gauge coming through the bulkhead could cause problems if it touches the body, causing a short, then possibly your c on fire.

use a 20A fuse in the distribution block for the alpine.

from the distribution block, the alpine will only need the same thickness as the wire going to the grey box, 14 gauge roughly, you can buy that in small reels at a local car shop.

for the JBL, I=P/V, current = power divided by voltage, so 1100w (peak i presume) / 14.4v (when car is running) = 76.4 amps, so a 80A fuse is needed, seems a touch high tho. if you have your amp already, check what fuses it has on the side, and add up their values, should give you an idea.

the 9812rb will need both red and yellow wires (on the seperate adaptor that comes with it) wired to battery. this needs a 10 amp fuse. also, there is a seperate ground on this lead. black with a ring terminal on the end.

i dont know if some ones already said that. im really tired and my eyes have gone blurry..

night night...

the red is the ignition, why would it need wired direct to the battery? it only needs a signal to tell it to turn off and on, so you use the looms original ignition wire.

cheers for all the help, will do exactly what you said wire it to a in-line fuse, what size fuse needs to be in this? (the fuse near to the battery).

BATTERY > IN-LINE FUSE HOLDER (AMP SIZE?) > 8AWG CABLE THROUGH BULKHEAD > FUSE DISTRIBUTION BLOCK > 20 AMP FUSE (FOR ALPINE) > 14AWG WIRE TO YELLOW ALPINE POWER CABLE

This right?

battery fuse needs to be fairly high, add up the rest of your fuses in your distribution block, it should match that.

4gauge through your bulkhead you said, then 8gauge out the distribution block.

Wicked

BATTERY > IN-LINE FUSE HOLDER (AMP SIZE=SUM OF DISTRO BLOCK FUSES) > 4AWG CABLE THROUGH BULKHEAD > FUSE DISTRIBUTION BLOCK > 20 AMP FUSE (FOR ALPINE) > 14AWG WIRE TO YELLOW ALPINE POWER CABLE
