right ive run my cables for my front left speaker using 4mm speaker cable, but i underestimated how much I needed, and have run out of 4mm, I've got loads of 2mm here, is it going to make any difference if I use 2mm speaker cable for the front right speaker. going to be running about 60-70 watts thru them. i am using the existing cable into the doors.
cheers peeps
also, how the hell do you fit 2 phono leads, 4 speaker cables and an rca past those stupid tray thing in the back! nightmare getting it under the plastic
i took my door cards out, coz i was sound proofing atthe same time.
as for the speaker wire... depends. if your going from stinger competition quality stuff to economy sainsbury's gear you will notice something :P
however, i'd be more worried about joining the 2 wires together. At such low level, IMO - you wont notice a thing

I've done it! All speakers in my car are now amped! and what a difference! no distortion at higher volumes! im hearing sounds on songs ive never even heard before!
thanks martin for all your help!
p.s. my headunit occasionally makes a high pitched buzzing noise what is this? i could barely fit all the wires behind the heaudnit!
high pitched buzzin = interferrence... although you say its comin from the hu, which makes me think otherwise, usually it comes from speakers.. does it change when you rev?

it not from the speakers its from the headunit and it does it for about 10 seconds then stops, then maybe 2 minutes later does it again.
mite b just the fan?
you didnt say it had a fan :P
mine has a fan, and doesnt make a buzzing sound, it makes a high pitched humming sound.. if u get me..
the internal ampifier could be buzzing if it has a crapo earth, but it shouldnt do unless you didnt buy a proper iso block and you hard wired it...? do you have any speakers running off of hu, if you do - listen for a lil pop when u turn them on.
but TBH, it's all pointing to this fan.

Its not the headunit as first thought, it is the left side tweeter, the woofer is fine, but the tweeter is playing music but buzzing and sqeeking at low volume, is this something to do with the crossover, or the power cable down the left?
