I just had mine set up for stalk controls.
halfords were a big help.

Dont buy the adapter until you seek advice.
My cd player was not compatible with stalk controls and I had to purchase a new player.

Cheapo players even though they have the connection at the back still may not work so ask before buying the adaptor.

I paid £35.00 for mine, but they vary a little bit depending on the make of unit.

Each make of headunit has a different steering wheel control adapter - so you'll need a different one to run an Alpine?

Mine was an alpine.Only expensive alpine players work not the cheap older ones.

The adapter is £20.

You need a patch lead for alpine / pioneer - these are about £5
