I've got a very nice Corsa C 2004, but I've noticed that when I have the sound turned up high, the speakers tend to crackle. I thought that putting in some new front door speakers would make my music sound crisp and clear, even at high volumes.

Can anyone recommend some speakers and the size/wattage that they should be!

Thanks a lot,
Corsa Boi Kirt x

try infinity referance door speakers. you will also need speaker adapter plates to fit them and i would also recomend a new headunit if you dont already have one,

Money aint really a problem (not trying to say I'm loaded, I'm 17!), I just wanna find something that is gonna give me a crisp sound. It was just size/wattage/brand that I didn't know about. I've been told Sony Xplod are good speakers? :)

NOOO sony are rubbish they dont make car audio they make TV's

get some infinity reference they are 99.99 and will sound good and spend the rest of your money on a better HU prob alpine

How would I go about putting in a head unit though, cus everything is built into one :o

Infinity Reference sound good, what kinda size/wattage should I look at, or is just "the bigger, the better"? :) x

17cm components up front speakers.

You can replace the head unit like any other car.

You just take your standard headunit out, and buy a bracket so your new one fits in. You should have some things to take your standard one out, if not you can buy them from halfords for a few quid. The bracket that fits into the headunit set me back 13 from halfords too. :)

If I replaced the speakers would I have to get a new head unit? Cus strangely, I like the default head unit :) Looks cool, and links in well with the display at the top :)

Where would I get the wattage adaptor, and how much is it gonna cost me? Links? :) x

Wattage adapter :?

Dont need to change your HU to get speakers working, but wont sound as good.

Well... in a parallel universe, where I had unlimited time, money and know-how, I'd have an amp, sub(s), speakers and a new head unit. But alas, thats not the case.

you said money wasnt a problem, if your not changing the head unit or amping the speakers dont spend anything over £100 - not that im an expert or anything just my opinion

yes... volume is what determines a good speaker... freq respsonse/materials/sensitivity/cooling and general SQ is sooooo yesterday :|

anyway.

So you want new speakers? are you interested in compnents, or just some new 17cm speakers to go in the doors? if you are keeping the same hu, then i wouldnt recomend buying excellent speakers... and TBH, when you change your HU - you should be looking at comps anyway... so if your going to get a "proper" set up, maybe just wait until u have more money....?

all you seem to have specified, is that u want to be able to go to max without distortion... and if u do want speakers now, then i wouldnt recomend anything much better than these: http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/2172.html

tbh i put my infinity reference 13cm in the front and 6x9 in the back and it sounded way better with the corsa unit in. But when i put my pioneer in it was just a whole new level of sound. if your planning then buy what you want cause its better to upgrade to good ones that will last. your not gonna hurt a set of speakers by underplaying them. and then when the time comes with some more money you can buy a better head unit.
