Can this be done?
I intend to get an aftermarket headunit in about a year but for the time being is there any way to run my iPod through my Vauxhall/Siemens CD30 headunit?
Its one of those new 2nd generation Nanos; the ones that come in different colours.

best way IMO is through a cassette adaptor, get from your local argos or do you have a CD player? If so then FM trasnmitter is the only way
if its cassette then: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5342488.htm

What do you mean by an FM transmitter?

You can buy an FM Transmitter now, they sell them on e-bay.
You plug it into the IPOD and it transmits a signal to your radio in the car, so basically you create your own mini radio station. You have to tune the radio to the same frequency as the ipod transmitter.
Well worth buying, and there are a few different types available.
I have a belkin tunecast 2, think they transmit about 10 metres max and are pretty good quality but nothing beats the alpine kca-420i ipod connection to a alpine headunit, just they are damn slow scrolling through songs but hey make a on the go playlist b4 u set of on your journey and its all good.
Just goto eBay and click FM transmitter, they vary so much in price and quality, if they make an iTrip for your pod then definatly get one of those, infact I have a spare iTrip sitting here if your interested but they dont work with the new video ones or the nano ones just the photo ones n that.

I just found one on Ebay; it holds, charges & transmits; looks like the perfect temporary solution until I can get a proper setup :D

i wouldn't buy 1 of those ones, i have just the transmitter and whenever i plug my charger in i get a crackling noise in the background thats very annoying, so i would guess that you might get the problem with that one.
