as some of you know i just picked my new sri up last weekend and one of the things that surprised me was the quality of the standard speakers (well , as far as stock ones go there pretty good)

anyway i was just wondering has kept these and just added a sub and if so does it sound ok .

if not what do you recommend . thanks all

tim

first of all yes they are good for OEM in small cheap hatchbacks but they are ****e in comparison on whats offer 3rd party.

a sub with standard front speakers and headunit will sound shoot.

I've got infinity front comps with an infinity 12" sub running off a jbl 4 channel amp and a jvc headunit (6x9s with bass blockers going in soon) and it sounds mint to my ears, no more rattling and grainy distortion.

Infinity Kappa 65.7cs upfront and an Alpine 10" Sub + Magnet amp.

I was impressed with the standard speakers, ran them with a Pioneer H/U + sub & amp for a fair few months until upgrading to Pioneer components (which blew after a few months lol) now on infinites which should last forever

when i had the corsa i just disconnected the rear ones, put alpine 6x9's in the parcel shelf and uprated the front door speakers to alpine as well, sounded really good without going down the sub/amp route which would take up vital golf club space in the boot

not quite

Asking Andy if the fronts are the only things he changed is like asking if you have ever had a ****.

i know that ive seen you car before lol , i ment joel sorry
hehe ok dude :)

personally id do one really good set of fronts (really good) and a sub in back

that will sound good enough inside the car for you to enjoy

if you want to be building something fancy to show off with boot open maybe look at including some mids at the rear so the bass doesnt take over ;)

i run a CDT speaker setup and it sounds very nice

5.25" components in the front High definition series HD-52 with a massive audio amp

2x12" Long Excursion as they are called CDT subs in the boot with a kenwood :woops: mono amp (less fussed about amp quality for the bass notes)

i have got Alpine 9853R with Ipod interface. JBL 16.5cm (6.5") front comp and vibe 6 x 9's in a customer boot build running off a JBL GTO 4 channel amp and it is loud, waiting on my power cap now to finish off.
