View Full Version : Rear Speakers - FAO Martin
I Currently have:
Audiosystem front components (amped)
Audiosystem Sub
Pioneer headunit
Audiosystem have just brought out some 6x9's - I listened at the weekend and was very impressed..
Currently my car sounds pretty **** in the back as there's no speakers in the back..
Idea is to se tup some 6x9's on a stealth shelf and have all of the bass cut out htrough the amp..
I need your input / advice :)
imo there is no point in having 6*9's and cutting out the bass. some decent coaxials would prob be better, but will let martin explain it better
In that case can someone reccomend some decent ones - IDeally to match what I currently have.

well what ever driver you mount in the parcel shelf is going to be disturbed by the sub in the boot unless you whack a box around the under od the speaker, so it is sealed.
dunno what to suggest really as i cannot see the point in rear speakers as i dont care what it sounds like in the back, in fact i dont even care what it sounds like in the passenger seat as i am the driver in my car :P i just put the extra/spare money on better front splits.
are you looking at amping rear speakers or not? i would look at buying some coaxils, and get a filter so they cut off at a pre set level, so it keeps it is a mid, and not as a woofer.
you really dont want any more bass from a different sized driver (in this case a 6x9) it will sounds louder of course, but will sound awful (at higher end more noticably)
if you had more budget, instead of the coaxil, whack in some more components. it will never sound that good in the back, becuase you will have the comps in the front set to play "louder" so when sitting in the back, you will still here the front over powering rears...
does that help...?
I'm looking at taking my parcel shelf out - and making one JUST to fit back speakers in so that the sub isn't thumping onto it making it jump
I have an amp wired up ready to run some back speakers - Would components be best then?
My sound system is almost how i want it..
My current issues are:
Parcel shelf rattles & no treble in back... sounds a bit unbalanced? Hard to explain.
I can easily make a box to protect the rear speakers..
Any ideas what would be best? I can't find any audiosystems stuff online.
I don't really have a budget in mind to be honest, I just want to finish it all :)
