Just bought these component and just wanting to know will it do any damage running these through my apline 9856 before i get a amp( getting one soon). i have read on this forum somewhere there is a possability of a problem.

no. so long as positive goes to positive, and negative goes to negative, all connections are good, and you dont have a stupid HU set up, no problems at all.
if any one else says other wise, they done know sh*t :thumbs:

martin if you run them for ages off a lower wattage than the rms will the voice coils eventually go or is that ****e?

if this was the case, then everytime you had your speakers on quiet volume level - they would suffer damage. This is not the case :thumbs:
if equipment is scoped, with correct cooling to voice coil(s) etc, then you can exceed wrms values, in some cases - you can put DOUBLE through.
a mate had some Orion subs rated to peak at 135dB, he had them thumping at 145. Directed Audio came to his car ( as he was using viper amps which are also made by directed) - checked it all out, and in the end there changed there subs spec because of what he proved to them ;)
Cheers it isnt going to be for ages as i am going to amp them next month whats a good amp would like a alpine one.
I am not going to be getting a sub or 6x9's or anything else unless it sounds crap without them :)
