How Important is it to you?

How much time do you spend (out of work) on you desktop?

Could you go a week (or longer) without using it?

I am on it all the time at work, obviously.

At home, I don't like using it. I get fed up of being on a computer so much at work that I don't bother.

I use mine for a few hours every night and weekends too... ive had it almost 2 years now and its never let me down once, hasnt crashed or froze or anything. Also seems to be running at full speed when using apps etc.. too :D

Main reason I use it is to keep on top of CCUK, autorising new members, making a few changes here and there and also reply to sh*t laods of pms, amongst other things.

Anyways cant be arsed to ramble on as I have work to do - but yeah I wouldnt be without my mac - no way in hell... best purchase I made in the computer market :D - Looking at a mac mini now for the bedroom

Mac are much better than PCs.

Macs never crash (Hardly ever crash)

Ive had my minimac for about a year & have had no problems.

thats one big understatement about macs never crash :nono:

if you use macs as much as i do with the amount of programs open at the same time you will see how macs proper work i use the new G5 macs and they crash quite alot when we have alot of programs up which is shocking cos my G4 has never crashed when programs are up only when i tried to copy something and could'nt handle it

I had but not the new OSX Operation System and not in depth. Its a really easy move accross mate... obviously things are different, what you will notice is how much more simple things are, you want to do something and you can nice and simply.

At the end of the day its down to user preference, and I dont want to get into Mac is better, or PC is better as some people on this forum just have to take it to far and get into slanging matches which really isnt needed at all.

Personally I love them... and I wouldnt buy a PC again - I mean I work on a PC all say at work, and its nice to have a mac to use at home - but like I said personal preference.

Take a look at this: http://www.apple.com/getamac/ << Quite good and funny at the same time. One thing I do like to say "Once you go Mac, you never go back" :| :D

Need anymore advice then we can talk over PM if you wish as I am already taking this thread a little off topic.

Cheers

snap :) as for the crashing mine never has and thats just beause u havent got enough ram for all the programms open. If your touching video editing u need well over 1gb of ram and ideally 2 as u probably kno.

I spend way too long on a PC, around 8 hours in the day, and then maybe 1 in the evening. Starting to get head aches at work so reckon i need to get my eyes tested!

I'm the same as you. I only really use it at home now to update my iPod, and stick my digital pictures, and stuff on there. I rarely use it. Weekends is when I use it the most.

i can see where macs are good. but i still say anything a mac do a pc can do aswell. i also didnt like them cause they were too expensive and didnt allow enough editing.

I like xp cause it is complicated and you can fine tune it to your settings.

My friend has a mac and swears by it but so often he has problems connecting to our wireless network and he cant share files as hes not on MSHOME network and every time we try to edit his workgroup it changes it back.

I love the fact macs are now being advertised as being able to run windows dunoo if its a step up or a step down.

I think Macs are for simple people or arty farty peopel who want easy no hassel computing. But i like to use my windows/linux it has served me well since 3.1 and i can't see myself switching. Id like to tripple boot all three OS though. just so i got Windows for programming and gaming, mac for my videos and entertainment, and linux for my film encoding, and game ripping.

I'd require some hot young girls, a good collection of magazines and films and a girlfriend in order to leave my PC alone for a week.

my macs never crashed...i've got the 2ghz intel core duo 20 inc with 1 gig ram and when i run final cut pro, photoshop, itunes, msn and safari together, its fine......i would love to see a PC run all those programs as fast as a mac does ( "i would love to see a PC run all those programs as fast as a mac does" --- that was not an argument starter by the way)
