Would people be interested in a track day at croft?
I suggest waiting untill the weather improves so maybe april sorta time,
aguycalleddb thinks the price is £90 for use of the track and that croft can offer insurance for the day.
I think i would be good to have all the northeast members and maybe the yorkshire members there

my thoughts entirely
also me, u and turner will be able to find out who has the quickest car:lol:
so what sort of track day do u have in mind?
from what i've heard most track days involve needing new discs, pads, possibly the bits in the drums at the back, and sticking a set of steelies on with decent tyres or something coz u **** ur normal tyres. plus the obvious stuff like oil etc just in case.
and the tools to change..just in case. unless they provide a shop/workshop with the necessary stuff.
i've never been to one like but read plenty and heard from plenty who have and very few have said they didn't need to change at least 1 thing straight away be it brake,s tyres or something else
i mays well jus buy a new car then lol, but santas cumin soon so shud be cool
i'm up for it and i will see if i can sort a few other frm yorks to come along :doublethumbs:

Ive never been to one myself mate so i dont know but i would assume it totally depends how hard you drive around the track, as long you dont go daft you should be ok.

good job mate, as ive said above people dont have to go daft on the track but i would look pretty cool with all of us on it just having fun

Some Info:
On the Day :
All drivers must sign a declaration/signing-on form and must present for inspection a full current driving licence. A mandatory briefing will then take place where all drivers must attend.
Breaking of the rules set out in the briefing may result in exclusion from the track.
There will be no scrutineering carried out. It is the sole responsibility of the owners themselves to ensure their car is in a suitable track worthy condition.
All cars attending should have a valid MOT (excluding Track Cars these should be capable of passing MSA Scutineering) and there must be sufficient tread on the tyres to cope with the days activities.
Although no scurineering is carried out, Croft Promosport (Croft Circuit) reserve the right to refuse access to the track any vehicle deemed unfit for the days activity.
It is the drivers responsibility to ensure any towing eyes are fitted to the car before activities commence. Failure to have a suitable towing eye may result in your vehicle been damaged during recovery.
Vehicles should not run slick tyres unless fitted with a suitable roll over protection.
Noise Levels on cars must be 98dba static level or under. Please note that your car will be noise tested and if it is found to be over the limit then it will not be able to take part and no refunds will be given. It is the responsibility of the driver of that car that it adheres to the noise level.
No hand held cameras are permitted. Any on board cameras must be securely mounted using appropriate equipment.
Timing and competitive driving is strictly forbidden. Anyone found doing either may result in exclusion from the track.
Regardless of weather conditions all drivers and passengers must cover there arms and legs when out on track.
An approved safety helmet must be worn. These are available to hire from Croft Circuit on the day at £5 each with a £50 returnable deposit.
All drivers must complete the first session following the instructors pace car. There will only be one group permitted onto the track at any one time.
Drivers will be carefully monitored throughout the day and any driver considered to be driving dangerously will be black flagged, this could result in them being asked to leave the track.
Please ensure you arrive with a full tank of fuel. There is no fuel at the circuit, the nearest petrol station is 3 miles away on the A167 towards Northallerton.
May we remind you that your conventional insurance may not cover your car on the circuit, please check with your insurance company or broker. We are now able to offer an insurance cover for your vehicle, please find details enclosed.
If we are unable to run your track day for any reason, including adverse weather, we will endeavour to advise you as soon as possible.
The Circuit Management reserves the right to alter, amend or cancel any of the above without notice.
If you are signing on any passenger they must be 16 years and over and proof of identification will be required.

Just phoned Croft Circuit,
The price of a Car Track Day (own car) is £165 each
If there was 12 - 15 of us we could book the track for 6 20 min slots spaced out through the day.
I think a trip to Knockhill could be worth while looking at:
Track Driving - Hot Hatch £35 each.
http://www.knockhill.com/trackdays/index.php
Croft is only £95 for track use when there is a big club meet going on as they can get 60+ cars on the track and you get the discounts :)

Thats what I thougt :?
I've seen the days advertised with the vxscc and it only £90 ish.
Aye cos the members have forked out the track booking fee and they offer spare places to anyone else. I took the old mini project car to the Ford Owners club one a year or two back. Was a good laugh :)
aguycalleddb
04-12-2006, 15:34
I'm a member of the vxscc ;) (only for the discount).
If more people become interested we may be able to get a good deal.
Will probably need about 20 - 30 cars on the track for the discount. Just a shame my car is no way at all aimed at track racing otherwise I would of been on the track.

you can still give it a go on the track tho fox, it will be a good day out
I would be interested so will keep an eye out on whats happening.
I have done 4 track days in my current corsa now. If you have relatively new tyres and brakes you will be fine but on my last track day I was really going for it and managed to destroy a set of brake pads, and had to be towed home.
So will be handy if you have a spare set with you and the ability to change them!

also me, u and turner will be able to find out who has the quickest car:lol:
lets get it on ha ha

I'll keep an eye on what is happening, I don't think the race calender is released till January but it shouldn't be to hard to get organized.
