View Full Version : ICE Setup, need some ideas...
Hey guys,
Next on my list is going to be a sound system for my car, however I'm not really sure what to go for. I'm looking to replace the door speakers and put in a sub somewhere, but I also want to keep my boot space. Can anyone recommend a list. I would like the speakers to fit properly of course and the sub to be relatively hidden from passers by.
Cheers guys :doublethumbs:

budget? sq or spl
Budget is about 200 I'd say and I'd like a good balance between quality and pressure. I do like the bassy stuff so maybe more of a swing towards pressure is needed. Cheers!

200 for the sub or the comps?
Well let's say 300-400 overall. I can't really go higher than 400 at the moment.
EDIT: Just a thought, I would quite like to go Ipod compatible without a crappy frequency finder. Something like this (http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product.asp?product=21292). Plus I realise I'll probably need to get a new head unit and an amp.
I've been looking at some subwoofer packages and such. I think I may go for a twin subwoofer pack with amp and get some decent speakers at the same time. If anyone could recommend a decent setup that would be great!
Cheers
your budget is quite low so if you want all of that then spend about 150-200 on headunit (+ ipod thing) 100 on comps, then save a bit more so you can get a decent 4 channel amp then sub.

If your going budget keep to Pioneer JBL (only amps/subs tho) Alpine Vibe Infinity you wont go far wrong
Avoid Kenwood, Mutant, Fusion, SPLX, Sony like death itself
having said that ^ i've got a sony headunit (wanted steering wheel controls had a cheap adaptor) and its ok i got my system for £440 installed that included ultra_joel88's amp second hand (which is working really well btw) and im perfectly happy with the sound goes as loud as i want it with good enough quality for me, im not sure i'll bother to upgrade front comps anymore
Alright cheers guys. I'll probably be able to fork out a little more in the future, it's just I only just got my body kit sorted and I'm already planning the next purchase, you know how it is.
Edit: Just saw this (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-typer-pack-p-4813.html). I was considering getting this set up in the back, and then get some Alpine speakers for the doors? What do you think?
Forgot to mention, if I were to get an Ipod adapter, I'd quite like to retain the current look of my dash. I'm not quite sure how that would work as I think I would need to replace my head unit, but any help with that would be great.

If I were you, I wouldn't change the door speakers... They're quite good at what they're doing since you don't have a big budget...
I would rather change the hu, Clarion seems a good choice (I'm not a big fan of Alpine)... You've a lot of amplifiers up to the job (Rockford Fostgate, Phoenix Gold, Power Precision on eBay...)
EDIT : Don't go to soon on Alpine, they're no longer what they used to be...
Ok cheers for that!
I have a alpine hu with a ipod adaptor and the adaptor fits behind the hu somewhere and then the ipod can go either in the glove box or in the little compartment next to your right knee.well their the best places i have mine next to my knee in the hole but might change it to the glovebox.
Ok cheers for that mate.
I'm just wondering. If I change my head unit will it work with the steering wheel controls? I'm thinking about getting a head unit with an ipod adaptor and getting a facia adaptor for it all. However I have seen this (http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product.asp?product=21292) and I was wondering, if I got that I figure I'd be stuck with the stock Corsa head unit? Could some one clarify this for me?
Cheers
