Wow,

Just got the rear quarter panels on the car polished, they had some scratches from jet wash hose on them, I had tried all the different creams like 'scratch x' n stuff, had no luck,

Nimmo Coachworks (Kilmarnock) took care of it, for 20 quid!

was expecting to pay bout £50, so thats a result!

I no u didnt thats why i put and that, save me sayin wax, shamp.........

I think that nxt generation stuff is the 1. Im well in2 cleanin my car always try to find better products.

Ever tried mothers? Theyre big in the states.

AdulteratedJedi
12-01-2005, 16:45
yeah NXT is good.. but it doesnt work for everything, well except the shampoo (which is US only)

Buy different products for light/dark colours and youll do right.
However since you only doing your own car go with whatever works for you. Test and try different products before you settle on one's though ;)

I wanna try some Pinnacle Souverän Carnauba Wax, its meant to be the dog's nuts. Most concour's use it, hefty price tag too $70 but you get what you pay for, ive seen pictures and mmmmm. "This wax is brilliant on red -- awesome on black!" adds soo much depth and lasts ages.

Since your using NXT wax, try adding some Carnauba wax onto it as a topper, you should see some excellent improvements.

Mate, u dont no wot ive been thru tryin 2 get it wet look black!! all sorts of different products, auto glym, zymol, tried the new simoniz wax but that was ****, ehh wot else, most of the meguires stuff, and a few others. Gonna jus stick to nxt generation as i can get it easy from the garage round the corner from me. Dont use meguires shampoo but coz it seems to leave water marks even when i use a shammy.

Stef Corsa-C
12-01-2005, 16:55
Ps, topper?? u mean in between waxes? jus use nxt spray.

AdulteratedJedi
12-01-2005, 17:19
What colour is your car stef ??

Ps, topper?? u mean in between waxes? jus use nxt spray.

Nah thats a QD (Quick detailing) spray, you should use it after washing once a week, or when you want to bring the shine back but dont want to polish the whole car again.

By topper i mean use it as an additional wax, so polish your car, wax it with NXT as usual, and then wait for awhile and add an extra coat of wax on top, this time use a carnauba wax.

"Carnauba is nature's hardest, purest and most transparent wax. Carnauba car waxes tend to produce a deeper, darker, richer shine that is often described as "three-dimensional."

Many enthusiasts and show car owners prefer the shine of carnauba waxes, especially on black, red and other dark colors. Carnauba waxes bead water nicely, absorb the acid content in rain, and hide minor swirls in the paint."

it will just add a little more protection to your NXT, and also give it more depth.

Moters black mate. That actual process i go thru varies dependin on the paint condition but yeah carnuba wax is 1 i hav in the house, u no the 1 out of the 3 step cleaner. The quick detailer is prob the product i use most. Last summer i used like a bottle every 3 weeks!!

When i had mine i had the Auto Glym blokes put whats called Life shine on it. They do all the outside and the inside. All the seats are treated with somethin so they donw stain (kinda like scotchguard i suppose) and when i wash the outside i dont need to polish or wax it. As long as i dry it it looks as if it just come out of the show room. They suggest that i apply the stuff they gave me (wax polish etc) once a year. but at the moment its always sparkling after ive washed it!

:D:D:D

ive seen that kinda thing before. Decent valeters do it. How much did it skin u?

Jamin100
13-01-2005, 11:10
lol, it was expensive!

well, on my corsa the vx garrage charged me £300. But the same garrage is only chargiing my dad £199 and thats on a signum which is twice the size as mine. i only had mine done last week and my dads is being done today. so i dont know what the exact price would be.

makes it look nice tho.

Stef Corsa-C
13-01-2005, 11:13
Round about 2 ton then, thats good considering the coating lasts like 3-5 years. Gonna see wot my vaux garage are sayin about it.

Jamin100
13-01-2005, 11:15
When the sales bloke was trying to sell it to me he said that it will but value onto my car when i come to sell it, but i think that he was just saying that. They gave me a huge suitcase with stuff in, i'll take a piccy tonight to show ya.

Stef Corsa-C
13-01-2005, 11:36

Well I reckon that AJ's secretly got a sales job for meguiars

Garages sell new car owners a diamond brite product that lasts years and stops you ever needing to wax it. Talk to a professional car repair company and they'll tell you it's nowhere near that good, althoug it is a good polish.

You can get a better finish by following the meguiars 3-step polishes and tbh, it looks better too.

Stef, thats a lot of bottles of QD to use on such a small car :-o ... your not meant to use it as a polish you know

Jamin100: Ites good that your car still shines after every wash, thats whats suppossed to happen if a car is detailed right. Personally i wouldnt consider that exspensive if it lives up to its claims. However im a little dubious about the 3-5 year claim :( Most waxes will protect for around 3-5 months, 6-8 months if your lucky and buy a high-end wax.

Some people dont understand than you shouldn't wax your car alot (im not suggesting your one of them, just saying) and for me While auto glym make some good products, ie there glass cleaner. There polish and wax are hyped up too much, most of the time you get the results you want in the short term, but when it comes down to the crunch they dont do what i want them to do.

I wish paul, but your right megs to make some awsome product. Most of them we have to import mind since they dont give us brits the same range of products as they do the yanks. For instance there new 2005 range isnt coming over here for awhile, and there not bringing ALL of it either :(

However you only had it done a week ago, so there would be something seriously wrong if it had to be polished already ;)

AJ

Jamin100
13-01-2005, 15:11
twice, it got really dirty cause i took it into the country so i thaught i needed to give it a clean. Took it to BP, used the jet spry, dryed it with a blade, all done.

eeek !!

Dont take offence mate, im only trying to help

NEVER EVER EVEr use a powerwash, if you want to keep your pint healthy. If you want me to give you a long winded rant about them then i will. Just take my word for it.

How often do you normally wash it, when you havent been into the country ??

If you want i can give you a simple regime that will help with keeping your can in top condition, Again dont take offence, help is all i offer.

ive done it on every car ive had, i dont take it through the normal car washes tho but usually use a jet wash.

ive got one at home so use that most of the time.

David
13-01-2005, 15:31
Jet/pressure wash is a big no-no for me, the pressure can adn I have seen it remove paint (on a cheap £30 machine)

and on my car.

You have been warned

Jamin100
13-01-2005, 15:32
is that after a re-spray though??

Stef Corsa-C
13-01-2005, 15:39
Suppose it depends on how dirty ur motor is. If its caked in dirt and mud then u use a sponge on it, is that not rubbing the dirt in? I always hit it with ma jet wash, then sponge and bucket and then garden hose the soap off. Seems to hav worked fine so if its not broke dont fix it!

13-01-2005, 17:26
I thought the "No Jetwash Rule" was set in stone

I'd never use one on my car again

I've tried afew shampoo's but so far i've found jewella stuff i got with my dimondbrite from vx the best, i've had the car just under a year and she still shines like glass after a good wash :)

Is this shiney or could i get it even better :?:

Nope I think thats shiney enough! You could give the zaust a quick clean tho :)

Welsh_Cruiser
13-01-2005, 17:47
Looks Pretty Shiney To Me :)

AdulteratedJedi
13-01-2005, 21:45
Yep pretty shiney, but as with everything theres always improvements that can be made ;)

As for the powerwash issue, in short. If you held your hand at the end of one it would slice your hand right off. Now imagine that much PSI going at your car when the multilayered finish it has, from the primer through the top clearcoat, is only about .004 to .006 of an inch thick. The end result will be it all coming off when powerwashed too often. Clear coat first, so your car will loose its shine and protection :(

now i wouldnt wish that upon my worst enemy
