the music you listen to has been mastered to how the artist wants the listener to hear it, so doesnt need changing.

it depends on how much you are into it

i have a alpine PXA-H700 and its the best thing in my system makes the SQ loads better

but unless you are sure then i would not bother

Well a well designed setup will have all EQs and enhancements turned off or to flat because each part of the system does its part properly so no adjustment is needed. EQs just allow fidling with the levels of various settings which can be done on most HUs and amps.
I.E. if you want a "bass boost" or to up the low frequencies on an EQ, then the gain on the sub can just be adjusted.

only get one if you know how to use it properly, like derbyboy

as derbyboy said, the pxa-h700 / 701 is an asesome signal processor (i have one too) and you can set much more than just EQs, if your going for a sq install or buying good quality components then you will notice the difference it makes!

with the pxa-h700 you can set eqs at a channel level, my sub and comps cross over around 100Hz but i have the top end of the sub boosted, means comps dont distort but you can get some bass from them and still get good bass from the sub.
