CanBUS is a fieldbus technology that allows the car to talk to it's sub components through a reduced wiring system. through 2 wires a data stream can be maintained rather than just an on and off. This means that when you turn the light switch on, the switch outs a signal the oth Body Control Module (BCM) and this in turn activates the lights. This is why there is a small delay when you turn your lights on and off, It''s more noticable in the Astra as opposed to the Corsa. I used lights as a simple example, but a lot of components are connected up this way and it allows for a better diagnostic and problem tracing if something should go wrong.

so do all corsas have this canbus system, or only facelifts?

None of them, yet some of them :\

The CanBUS found in the C is a hybrid version and not a full blown one, but does reside in all models of all ages.

I think the period between 03-04 can have a mixed bag, it's best not to question Kash though.

Only latest Corsa has Canbus new Astra has as does Vectra and so on Toon is correct in his explanation
On most Vauxhalls you only need Can high to see doors lock unlock doors open boot open etc this is the information highway on cars
and believe me will create more problems in years to come when these cars are getting older but that is the way of the world

Hi there l have a 06 plate corsa, and l went to a local tuning garage and they said l have a can bus system. So l decide to fit my new headunit anyway to see if it would work and it did with no problems to my car.

i may be wrong but canBUS is to do with the ECU not the headunit?

basically everything is connected via a usb style interface so rather than having one wire for each thing it has several wires and everything gets sets as data along that. However they didn't make literally everything in the car use that because it would be unnecessasry, so some things just use standard wiring loom for now.

Take out your headunit and it will "CAN H" and "CAN L" on the top of your headunit.

In relation to the HU you will either have ISO or canbus. It's easy to tell as the connectors look completely different. Do a search and you will see what I mean.
