Where's the best/easiest place to take an ignition switched live feed from to hard wire up a TomTom. Will hard wire in an accessory socket and conceal so as not to tamper with the TomTom connector (this is what I've done on my Veccy). Ideally want to take feed from somewhere conveniently close to the right hand end of the dash which is where the TomTom will be stuck to the screen. Also, need a convenient earth point.

Thanks

How difficult is it to get to the back of the ciggy socket, presume it's a centre console out job? Don't really want to take gear knob off at present.

Or I think you might be able to unclip part of the gearstick gaiter surround and access the back of the 12V socket from there?

Cheers, what about running the cable up to the right hand end of the dash unseen?

Will the TomTom still be able to be removed when not in use for safety reasons?

Under the fuse box there is two screws take them out and fed the wire throught there! that's what did!

Ive got mine on the right hand side with all the cables running up the side and the dashboard near the door you can get the cable to come through if you take the section out under the steering wheel

I got a double 12v adaptor and put it behind my headunit/centre console and feed the wire through the hole just above the 12v input

I'll try and post some pics if ya want?

i thought this was a thread asking what you should feed your tomtom

Be careful wiring it in as most TomTom systems are 5.6V max input and need the step down circuit built into the adapter

I was going to do the same as I've done on my car i.e. wire in a 12V accessory socket concealed out of the way and just plug the TomTom into that without changing any of the TomTom wiring as such.

Thats the best idea mate, although you can take the existing power lead apart and wire the 12V directly onto that. Depends how confident you are with electrics

Double 12v adaptor behind the centre console with the wire coming through the hole

Just where the dash joins the wires go up and in behind the dash to the centre console, head unit, 12v

Wires going down the side of the dash behind the rubber strip.

Got mine the same way (tom tom and road angel) but i hardwired the adapter to the back of the 12v socket so you cant see the plug.
