What does getting your amp scoped actually mean?

you put it onto an oscilloSCOPE and check the output to see when it starts to clip the signal.

the output should be a smooth sine wave when clipping occurs the sine wave become flat at the top and bottom

i also think you can get the actual power output of the amp this was as well

i think you have to be careful, i have never done it myself but i suspect its not as simple as it sounds

also oscilloscopes that can handle thousands of watts of power are not exactly cheap,

would you use a microphone or connect it some other way

no i think you connect it directly to the output of the amp via cables

^^ what he said, disconnect speakers and connect scope to terminals

scoping is basically matching the output from the rca from ur headunit with the gain on the amp. its more precise than setting the gain at minimum level and turning the headunit volume up3/4 of the way, then you turn the gain up untill you can hear the music distorting and then back off the gain a litte bit.

i find it amazing, only using half of it too lol, havent done anything with TCR yet and have only made small graphic eq changes to makes a huge difference. why cant you put it in your new car?

Another way to set your gain levels (way i did it and never had any clipping)

1) RMS / Ohms (do for both amp and speaker / sub for channel(s) your setting, and take the lowest)
2) set headunit to max volume you will use.
3) disconnect speakers from amp and connect a multimeter to terminals (if its sterio fade all to one side and use those terminals)
4) set the multimeter to Volts AC
5) using test tones (i use 1000Hz for comps and 60Hz for sub, at -3Db) slowly start increasing the gain until meter reads the value from step one.
6) repeat for other channels.

the controller wont really fit anywhere without major dash changes and tbh i need the money from the sale as well
