need an electriciany person to solve a wee problem for me...

Say I have a throttle potentiometer that reads between 0.8->2 kOhm

And I want to replace it with a potentiometer that reads between 0.2-> 1 kOhm

BUT I want the actual output from the new potentiometer, to be between 0.8->2 kOhm, what circuit do I use?

I guess I need a voltage divider and some new resistors or something but I can't work it out.

Cheers in advance.

Prizes for a correct answer.

So let me get it straight You got

The variable resistorfrom the throttle and your trying to shorten it with the same output giving more acceleration over a shorter range? Providing a more digital acceleration id asume.

Im sure i have seen a multiplication circuit before ill have a look up on my books :)

basically i want to replace the stock throttle body and potentiometer, which gives a certain reading between 0% open (0 degrees) and 100% open (90 degrees). I want to replace that with 4 individual throttle bodies which have a different potentiometer, that reads differently at each point (0 through 90 degrees).

Prize can be money - ie £7 from every throttle body kit I sell, I expect to sell 50 at least -> £350 isnt bad! Or can be a random prize depending on my generousity at the time of completion and the elegance of the solution.
