I havent been on the site for ages so thought i would check whats happening in the Corsa world and show some pics of my Sax. I have had it for a couple of months now, it was standard when i bought it and a little ragged. But after i have had my hands on it for a couple of months it now looks mint!

Its a top car to drive, 10x better than my old SRi in terms of speed and handling. The only bad point is the french build quailty!! Its awesome to drive though! The decat exhaust sounds awesome as well.

Cheers for looking
Chris

I dont want to chav it up mate, so its staying as it is. Subtle is better.

I have lowered it on Eibachs and fitted the exhaust.

Great mate, I used to have a Saxo 1.1 but had the vtr kit fully colour coded:)

Nice cars but yea you get fed up with the build quality, I blew the core plug out the engine in mine somehow.

Yea keep it how it is mate, subtle VTS looks! VTS wheels rock!

Only things I would probably do is colourcode, and remove the slats out of the grill and replace with black mesh, that always looks good even though its a tricky job

looks gd just get some 15" black team dynamics pro race 1.2s that would look well nice and black angels and smoked rear and side repeaters thats wat i would do then leave it that wouldnt look chaved up at all the would look motor sport style and look mint nice car atm tho :)

I think they're 120bhp standard, decat should add a couple of bhp as well. Its like driving a go kart though because its light, its very fun to drive! ;)

That explains it then!
Someone in Hull has one and tried to get infront of me from the lights but couldn't keep up
I thought they were about 135hp as standard which is why I couldnt quite understand how they couldn't keep up.

if your keeping it like that then thats rubbish :(

looks naff like that imo, i would def look at changing a few bits to make it look nicer

your corsa was soooooooooooo nice! and cant be that much slower as yours was a 1.8

kraziCorsa
24-05-2007, 12:52
maybe it feels faster cause its a smaller car.. but anyway my cousins VTR feels really fast, felt much faster than my mates 206 gti, even though the GTI was faster.. nice car though, i was thinking about getting a VTR

chris_trickle
24-05-2007, 12:52
I sold my Corsa to fund moving house, i had a ****ter for a month (£1k Mondeo!!) and got bored with it so decided to get a Saxo, its a car i have always wanted so i got one. Its faster than my SRi and handles sooooooo much better!

Jimmi - What would you do to it to make it better then?

jimmi
24-05-2007, 12:58
erm, if you want to just keep it sublte and not get aftermarket parts

full colour code

white standard rims

although i would get some rims the same as rad brad, think they are team dynamics pro race 1.2 in white or maybe black

i love VTS's and GTi pugs soooo much:)

mmmm, personnaly id have gone lower but 30-40mm on a saxo/106 is optimum for handeling:)

just keep it tidy and subtle and dont ruin it:)

Thanks for all the decent comments people! 8)

I havent really got a great deal to say about people saying they wouldnt have one because of the build quality and that chavs own them, all i cant say is that the Corsa isnt exactly perfect in terms of build quality and it certainly isnt short of the chav driver!!

very very nice mate..
i can see where youre coming from, all my mates have vts's and theyre rapid, and they just speed round corners a lot easier than my sri!

only problem is the gearboxes are crap! everyone i know with a vtr/s has gone through atleast one..
get a dimma grille.. or if you want subtle, get a saxo desire grille, as my mate has one and it looks lush..

ill find a pic

This was one of the cars I looked at getting, I basically wanted a faster/better handling car.

Looked at:

Saxo VTS
106 GTi
306XSi (Slow as **** though)
306GTi-6

Ended up getting a GTi-6, those VTS will keep up to about 60 orso then bye :)

Friend had alot of bad experience with his saxo, lots problems, Loved the look of a 106GTI but it felt too small :)

XSI's are a joke, 0-60 11seconds or something, my 1.2 was close to that :(

Car looks nice mate, only thing i'd do is CC it.

Just a quick update, havent been online for a while!!! The engine bay looked like basra when i got the car, so after abit of cleaning its looking a little tidier, i've still got a fair bit to do but its getting there!! I have also spray painted the cam cover wicked red...the same colour as the car. I have also included a couple of pics that i took today, i waxed it yesterday with Zymol cleaner wax (top stuff!!!) but it bloody rained today. Gutted!! Never mind, it still looks fairly clean...

Hi Folks,

Not been on here for a while so thought I would update my Sax thread. I've been spending a few quid trying to get the car ready for TRAX'07 as well as for some track days....

First of all I replaced the panel filter, I dont really see the point in spending hundreds of pounds on enclosed filters etc... They barely make a difference. When replacing the filter I couldnt believe how much crap was in the airbox! Also the size of the standard filter is a joke! Its bloody huge! Anyway its been replaced with a nice small Green cotton filter....

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y137/Chris_trickle/My%20Cars/VTS/P7280092.jpg

Next up I wanted some good quality brakes to help slow me down at the end of those long silverstone straights at TRAX...

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y137/Chris_trickle/My%20Cars/VTS/P7260078.jpg

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y137/Chris_trickle/My%20Cars/VTS/P7260086.jpg

And some stainless steel brake hoses...

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y137/Chris_trickle/My%20Cars/VTS/P7260084.jpg

Fitted on saturday...

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y137/Chris_trickle/My%20Cars/VTS/P8040018.jpg

I'm very happy with the feel of the brakes now, they're 10x better.

And finally I've been doing plenty of car cleaning to keep it up to scratch for the show. I'll be polishing/waxing it a couple of days before the show to make sure its on form...

what are your black diamond discs like? i have them on my c and they are good but always get a slight swirly sound when i brake. i got new brake pads and it went for a few weeks, but then came back, even though its a bit quieter.

what pads are you using?

Thats unusual???? I use black diamond pads and dont get any noises. Obviously the brakes make a different noise to normal discs because of the pads going over the grooves/holes.

I had black diamonds on my old corsa and didnt experience any problems with them either. What pads are you using?

yeh the swirling sound i am on about is the shape of the discs. i have got standard pads probably as when it went for a service they were changed and the blokes at the garage took the p*ss saying why the hell have i got 'ferrari' discs on a 1.2

The standad pads will be causing you the problems then mate. The bloke at the garage must have been a right tail, theres nowt wrong with upgrading brakes to some good quality discs/pads that you have confidence in

Only a couple of months.

Not put any pics up yet 'cos it's still under construction lol! My brother's round at the minute cos' my head needed skimming and he's a VX mechanic so he's come to put it all back together but it still doesn't want to start.

Think I might need to get some overtime in at work to cover the bills :banghead:!

have you just got standard black diamond pads like the ones on rimstyle or do u have to have specific ones for grooved and drilled discs?

I'll be sure to pop over to the Corsa C UK stand at trax for a look around and take a few pics.

Hi all, I havent been on CCUK for a while so thought I would post some new pics of my Sax. Had a change of plan recently, Instead of turning it into a track slag I have decided I want to keep it in mint condition and standard(ish). I think the standard look is the way forward these days.

I still intead to do the odd track day for fun and I'm going to the Nurburgring in July (With Saxosportsclub.com) which will be awesome! :yippe:

Anyway, heres the car as it looks now. before I go to the Ring I just want to get the wheels refurbed (same colour) to iron out the imperfections. I will also need to get it serviced and checked over before we go!

Sax-P is a good site, Its very similar to this one. SaxoSportsClub.com isnt quite as busy but its great for track cars and events.

Nice mate keep it exactly how it is!

Thats the plan, Standard Saxos are getting rare!

Its great on track, The car handles so well! I havent been on that much as I only caught the bug just before winter! But I will get some sessions in over the summer :)

I think the FCS (French Car Show) is the best chance to see a Saxo v C2 on track!

They're standard on the VTS so with me keeping the car standard I'm leaving them on. They're proper ****roen ones as well, not the tat you can get from halfords!

I was so close to going down that route, but decided I wanted to keep it standard. One of my mates stripped his Sax out, was great fun but a real pain in the arse for everyday use.

I'd like it if i could keep this car for a few years and get another car for work etc... Then I could strip it out and have a weekend/trackday toy!

What insurance are you paying on it, and who with?

chris_trickle
31-01-2008, 15:08
Insurance isnt great as its a fairly high group. Group 14 I think? I think thats because they're easy to nick and they're written off quite easily! (French build eh!)

I paid £900 last year but its due for renewal in the next month, I expect to pay around £700ish? Thats a guess though!
