For those of you who own a black car you'll hopefully understand my dilemma. Everytime I wash my car I end up with either water marks on it or smears or a mark of some sort. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can clean my car without having 2 wax it 5 times afterwards without leaving marks??

I used to have the same problem with watermarks

What i do now is just spend a bit more time rinsing the car and making sure it is completely clear of carwash liquid stuff.

Only problem is that I am crap at washing cars so instead of water/streak marks I get just get bits I completely miss!

I wash my car with some shampoo i got off a valiter (SP) i start from the roof, then driver side, front ect then once that is all washed using hottish water i wash it again with some jewelta car shampoo i got as part of my dimondbrite kit, then i use a chammy cloth working from the top of the car to the bottom to remove all the water :)

I dont use any special wax or anything just good old fashioned elbow greese and she's a beauty :D

i generally spray the whole car down, then wash sections, like the roof/bonnet/boot, then rinse, then one side, other side, then front and back. rinsing as i go. then rinse the car throughly again. then chamios dry, wringing out the cloth as i go, then i'll dry the car again as its never dry first time, then if i'm not waxing it i'll use my polishing cloth anyway to polish off and water thats left marks etc.

spotless.

i had a saturday job cleaning cars for 3 years when i was younger. try using just luke warm water with your car shampoo or whatever you use, also try using a hose pipe to wet the car first then wash it and use your hose to wash all the soap suds off it, if you havnt got a hose pipe a watering can works just as good with the end bit taken off. then leather it down it a decent chamios. colder water is the key

Best way ive found its to wash a bit at a time like the roof then rinse well with cold water, then the bonet and rinse. then give it a good dry with a chamosis.

i wash mine in stages, but instead of using a sponge (which i find leaves swirl marks in the lacquer) i use a merguirs lambswool wash mitt. whilst washing i use two buckets.. one with the shampoo, and one with water. after shampooing a section i rinse the mitt, before using more shampoo so that im not washing the car with dirty water.

gets shampooed every week, and about once a month it has a full meguirs liquid gloss waxing, and inbetween (usually fortnightly) it has a meguirs quik detailer.

in the summer however it'll be getting the full clay bar treatment, before being fully treated and re-waxed 8)

GOD IM SAD! :banghead:

Halfords do a non streak shampoo. Its not exactly streak free, but it don't leave nearly as many water marks as most other shampoos I've tried.

Halfords own stuff, comes in a blue bottle.
